Sự biến động theo mùa trong cấu trúc phân bố của quần xã tuyến trùng sống tự do ở sông Ba Lai, tỉnh Bến Tre được nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá sự khác biệt của chúng trong mùa mưa và mùa khô. Dữ liệu của tuyến trùng được xử lý và phân tích dưới dạng giá trị trung bình và độ lệch chuẩn. Các phương pháp phân tích đa biến như MDS, ANOSIM và SIMPER được thực hiện bằng phần mềm PRIMER v.6–PERMANOVA. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy sự khác biệt theo mùa trong cấu trúc phân bố quần xã tuyến trùng. Các giống tuyến trùng có phân bố rộng như Daptonema, Theristus, Monhystera và Terschellingia hiện diện ở cả hai mùa. Có thể sự khác biệt theo mùa trong tính chất môi trường đã làm thay đổi cấu trúc phân bố quần xã tuyến trùng; tuy nhiên những tính chất môi trường nào có sự biến đổi theo mùa cần phải được xác định trong nghiên cứu tiếp theo.
Yếu tố mùa thường được nghiên cứu nhằm làm rõ sự ảnh hưởng của chúng đối với quần xã tuyến trùng sống tự do khi áp dụng vào đánh giá nhanh sức khỏe sinh thái. Nghiên cứu được thực hiện tại sông Ba Lai, tỉnh Bến Tre trong mùa mưa năm 2019 và mùa khô năm 2020. Kết quả nghiên cứu thu được trong mùa mưa là 97 giống, 47 họ thuộc 11 bộ và trong mùa khô là 91 giống nhưng thuộc 43 họ, 10 bộ thuộc cùng 2 lớp (Chromadorea và Enoplia). Áp dụng giá trị cp và chỉ số sinh trưởng MI của quần xã tuyến trùng sống tự do để đánh giá nhanh cho thấy, sức khỏe sinh thái nền đáy sông Ba Lai ở mức xáo trộn tại hầu hết các vị trí khảo sát, các vị trí ngay chân đập Ba Lai luôn duy trì sức khỏe sinh thái xáo trộn qua hai mùa khảo sát. Các chỉ số và giá trị MI của quần xã tuyến trùng trên sông Ba Lai cho thấy yếu tố mùa đã chi phối tính khác biệt trong kết quả đánh giá. Do đó, yếu tố mùa cần được cân nhắc cẩn trọng và áp dụng vào nghiên cứu chi tiết hơn khi dùng tuyến trùng làm sinh vật chỉ thị.
