The search for more sustainable forms of the life has reflected directly in civil construction industry, for being, economically speaking, one of the most important to the country, although, is highly degrading to the environment, by either resource extraction, or the generation of waste. The ceramic industry fits in this picture, by the extraction of clay and the generation of the ceramic brick waste, residue result after burning problems and breaks ceramic parte. In search of an alternative to a sustainable disposal, and also, a reduction of consumption of raw materials in construction, this study evaluates the use of CPR in coating mortars. For this, it was made a mortar, called 5C, with replacement of 5% of the binder by CPR and one, called 10A, with 10% substitution by aggregate, plus a mortar without addition of residue for reference. The materials used were characterized, and the specimen passed through test of axial compression and traction by diametral, in order to evaluate the performance of the mortars. The results showed that the mortars that used waste are quite similar that the reference mortar, proving the feasibility of the use of residual mortar.
