El virus papiloma humano o VPH representa una de las enfermedades de transmisión sexual más frecuente, principal causa de cáncer cervical. Objetivo. Determinar la prevalencia de las infecciones genitales por VPH, identificar factores clínico-epidemiológicos asociados a dicha prevalencia y obtener la frecuencia de los tipos virales, en mujeres universitarias sintomáticas y asintomáticas en Ecuador, año 2020. Metodología. Investigación descriptiva, transversal, experimental de campo, la población estuvo constituida por 135 estudiantes con edad comprendida entre 18-28 años. Como instrumento de recolección de datos se realizó una encuesta sobre factores clínicos, la detección del VPH fue por reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) amplificándose una sección de 450 pares de bases del genoma viral perteneciente al fragmento L1, la detección del genotipo de VPH se realizó mediante el estudio del polimorfismo de la longitud de los fragmentos de restricción (RFLP). Resultado. Se encontró una prevalencia de VPH de 15,56% (21/135), la edad la mayor prevalencia se encontró en mujeres de 24-28 años (57,14%), 19,05% (4/21) de las mujeres que habían tenido embarazos salieron VPH (+), referente a los síntomas, 60,00% era sintomáticas y 40,00% asintomáticas, de las cuales 20,37 (11/54) resultaron VPH (+). En 66,67 % (8/12) se detectó secuencias de ADN de VPH de alto riesgo. El conocimiento integrado de todos estos factores o elementos que involucran al paciente como entidad social y biológica, al virus y a los posibles co-factores es fundamental para la implementación de programas de prevención (educativos y profilácticos) y para el óptimo manejo de los recursos disponibles en el tratamiento y seguimiento de los distintos niveles de esta patología.
Objetivo: Realizar un diagnóstico precoz del consumo de drogas en adolescentes. Método: Descriptiva observacional. Resultados: El 53% reflejó problemas con el consumo de alcohol, el 49% demostró la presencia de angustia psicológica. Conclusión: Se ha encontrado una relación directa entre las causas y factores relacionados al consumo de drogas en adolescentes, dentro de las principales son los factores sociales como padres alcohólicos, familiares cercanos que consuman sustancias psicotrópicas, círculos sociales con acceso a expendio y/o consumo de drogas, encontrándonos con cifras realmente alarmantes, ya que según encuestas el primer contacto con alcohol u otro tipo de sustancias es a los 11 años como promedio.
Objetivo: Analizar el perfil epidemiológico de malformaciones congénitas en servicio de neonatología. Método: Revisión de historias clínicas en el servicio de Neonatología del hospital general Ambato – Ecuador. Conclusión: Se realizó un análisis con las edades maternas de los recién nacidos estudiados con malformaciones congénitas teniendo una prevalencia mayor en edades entre 20 a 34 años con una afectación de 14 madres correspondiente al 77.77% y tan solo se vieron afectadas 4 madres con edad mayor a 35 años dando un 22.22%, datos que se asemejan con otro estudio de investigación.
Objetivo: Conocer el perfil epidemiológico de influenza A (H1N1) en el Hospital General Ambato del IESS durante noviembre 2017 a marzo 2018 mediante la revisión de las fichas clínico-epidemiológicas de historias clínicas de pacientes que ingresaron con el diagnóstico de enfermedad tipo influenza. Método: Revisión de las fichas clínico – epidemiológicas. Resultados: En relación con el número de casos sospechosos por mes, el mes de enero del año 2018 tiene el mayor número con 7 casos reportados, con una media mensual entre uno y tres casos, del mismo modo el total de casos positivos fue mayor en el mes de enero descendiendo hasta un caso positivo durante los meses de febrero y marzo respectivamente. Conclusión: La fiebre, tos y rinorrea, se encuentran presente en el 86.67% de los casos. Para determinar los casos sospechosos, probable y confirmado se deben tener en cuenta los criterios clínicos, epidemiológicos y de laboratorio.
Objetivo: Diseñar un perfil epidemiológico de pancreatitis aguda, para determinar las características de morbimortalidad, el comportamiento de la enfermedad en la población en estudio y así determinar estrategias diagnósticas, medidas de promoción, mejorar la calidad de vida y evitar complicaciones. Método: Se hizo recolección de datos de las historias clínicas. Resultados: Se encontró mayor incidencia en el género femenino, 25 casos con el 53.19% y el género masculino presentó 22 casos con el 46.81%. Conclusión: Existió un mayor número de casos en el género femenino y predominó en el adulto mayor. La pancreatitis aguda de etiología litiásica biliar fue más frecuente, seguido por la causa idiopática, mientras que la causa postalcohólica presentó un solo caso. Para llegar a un diagnóstico oportuno, el dolor abdominal en epigastrio de tipo punzante fue característico en nuestra población y se relacionó con los valores de amilasa y lipasa.
