El problema del análisis y la comprensión de textos dentro del proceso de aprendizaje se manifiesta en tanto los estudiantes poseen dificultades al establecer hábitos de lectura que permitan el desarrollo de estrategias de retención y codificación de información necesaria para establecer vínculos entre lo leído y lo aprendido. El objetivo principal es identificar las diferencias significativas de comprensión lectora en los estudiantes pertenecientes a las carreras de Contabilidad y Auditoría y Economía mediante la utilización del test ACRA (Adquisición, Codificación, Recuperación y Apoyo), herramienta utilizada para la evaluación de estrategias cognitivas de aprendizaje, en cuanto a su formación profesional y a su género. Siguiendo el objetivo la metodología utilizada fue un análisis descriptivo con la finalidad de establecer medias y comparar el nivel de estrategias en los estudiantes de acuerdo con los niveles bajo, medio y alto; además se utilizó la prueba no paramétrica U de Mann-Whitney puesto que permitió probar la hipótesis, identificar y establecer diferencias significativas. Entre los resultados obtenidos se evidenció que no existen diferencias significativas con respecto a las carreras y el género dentro del test ACRA con sus respectivas estrategias aplicadas a los estudiantes universitarios.
