Pseudomonas species were isolated from water and soil samples from Kothamangalam area. All of the isolates were multidrug resistant showing resistance against 3 to 9 of the antibiotics tested.Vancomycin resistancewas most common with beta lactam resistance. Klebsiella was the most abundant isolate showing maximum resistance. The presence of ampC in plasmid was determined by PCR amplification with ampC specific primers. It was concluded that all the isolates possessed plasmid mediated ampicillin resistance.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
