Este artigo apresenta uma análise da avaliação na linguagem de um artigo de opinião acerca do desafio de ser professor no Brasil, veiculado na mídia em novembro de 2017, a fim de promover uma discussão reflexiva sobre o assunto. Para isso, recorremos ao sistema de avaliatividade (MARTIN; WHITE, 2005). Primeiramente, realizamos a análise contextual do artigo de opinião, tomando por base as variáveis de registro (campo, relações e modo) do texto e identificamos quais tipos de avaliações são a partir das escolhas linguísticas do autor. A seguir, descrevemos os resultados de nossa análise a partir das avaliações de atitude (apreciação e julgamento de capacidade) e gradação (intensificação e quantificação), mostradas no texto em relação à profissão docente. Os resultados evidenciaram uma organização do texto conduzida por questionamentos, o uso de apreciações e de julgamento de estima social para, respectivamente, a qualificação e a avaliação do professor, bem como o uso de gradações de intensificação para reforçar a opinião do autor.
O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar as representações para professor e seus referentes em artigos de opinião de autoria de professores, publicados no blog Educação e Mídia, que é parte do conteúdo oferecido pela versão online do periódico paranaense Gazeta do Povo. Para tanto, tomamos por pressuposto teórico a Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional (HALLIDAY, 2014), mais especificamente o sistema de transitividade que realiza a metafunção ideacional, muito embora também tenhamos recorrido à metafunção interpessoal. A análise nos possibilitou observar que aos professores são manifestadas diferentes representações das quais se destacam a de responsável pelo processo de ensino e aprendizagem e pelas relações afetivas que repercutem na formação do educando como cidadão.
Dentre diversas medidas governamentais que têm sido propostas no estado do Rio Grande do Sul em relação à educação, o Projeto de Lei nº 44/2016 tem suscitado debates, pois pode resultar mudanças no papel da profissão de professor. Como resposta, professores de uma escola estadual da cidade de Santa Maria elaboraram uma Carta Aberta, em 2017, dirigida ao Sr. José Ivo Sartori, Governador do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Neste artigo, identificamos os significados enfatizados por meio de determinado mecanismo semogênico, denominado encaixamento, nessa Carta Aberta, com base nos pressupostos da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional propostos por Halliday e Matthiessen (2014). Como procedimento de análise, primeiramente efetuamos um mapeamento das orações para averiguar as ocorrências de encaixamento. Após, selecionamos cinco categorias temáticas para análise: Escola, Educadores, Estado, Reivindicação e Contexto e Políticas Educacionais no Rio Grande do Sul, que se destacaram pela recorrência e por sua relevância para o propósito da Carta. A análise evidenciou, além da grande ocorrência de encaixamentos, o papel determinante desse tipo de processo semogênico para a argumentação da legitimidade da reivindicação a que a Carta se propõe.
