RESUMO:A anemia falciforme (AF) configura-se como uma das doenças genéticas de maior frequência no mundo e no Brasil e vem sendo descrita apenas com relação às implicações na função e estrutura do corpo. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar o desempenho ocupacional de crianças/adolescentes com o diagnóstico de AF, investigando-se o impacto da patologia na condição de saúde destes. Os dados foram coletados através da Medida Canadense de Desempenho Ocupacional (COPM) junto a treze crianças/adolescentes e considerados a partir da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Verificou-se que as alterações obtidas no desempenho e na satisfação ocorrem não somente em decorrência da disfunção orgânica.
Com o objetivo de analisar o perfil dos pacientes internados na unidade de pediatria de um hospital universitário,realizou-se um estudo descritivo e retrospectivo que incluiu crianças internadas nas Enfermarias de Pediatria e noPronto Socorro Infantil, de um hospital universitário. Os dados foram obtidos a partir dos registros das avaliaçõesrealizadas de maio a outubro de 2012. Foram avaliadas 404 crianças, dessas 35% são lactentes e 59% do sexomasculino. Maio foi o mês de maior incidência de internações (21,5%) e 58% eram crianças procedentes de Uberaba.Quanto ao número de moradores, teve-se uma frequência de quatro pessoas/casa (31,6%), sendo a renda de doissalários mínimos (33,6%) e, do total de crianças, 38% recebem algum tipo de benefício. As doenças com maiorocorrência estão relacionadas ao aparelho respiratório (28,2%). Os dados permitiram caracterizar a amostra estudada,compreender o perfil do adoecimento nessa faixa etária, bem como, elaborar planos de atenção à saúde que previnamo agravamento das doenças a fim de se evitarem hospitalizações futuras, sugerindo o enfoque da prevenção deacometimentos respiratórios na atenção primária.
Das anemias hereditárias, a falciforme (AF) configura-se como a anemia hemolítica do tipo autossômica recessiva mais prevalente no mundo, determinada por uma alteração da hemoglobina que não consegue transpor-se pelos vasos e fazendo com o que o sistema circulatório apresente difi culdades para levar a oxigenação ao organismo. Visto que na literatura brasileira têm-se ponderações apenas em relação à descrição da prática de atividade física por indivíduos com o traço falciforme, este estudo buscou investigar e pontuar considerações referentes ao desempenho ocupacional de crianças/adolescentes com AF para a realização de atividades físicas. Foi realizado um estudo de natureza qualitativa exploratória e como procedimento de delineamento o estudo de caso, os dados foram coletados utilizando-se a Medida Canadense de Desempenho Ocupacional com 13 sujeitos, crianças/adolescentes com o diagnóstico de AF. Foram constatadas alterações obtidas no desempenho das crianças/adolescentes com AF no que diz respeito às atividades físicas, como a indisposição,cansaço, dor, edema. Contudo, verificou-se que tais acometimentos não são compreensíveis para esta população, e que existem distintos graus de limitação.
