El presente artículo tiene como meta expresar una síntesis de la importancia del programa de uso público de los Parques Naturales en Iberoamérica para los ciudadanos(as) del mundo que están interesados en el conocimiento, comprensión, uso y manejo racional del paisaje que aún existe en algunos sitios del planeta y que es fundamental preservar o gestionar de manera sostenible. La metodología consistió en trabajo de gabinete a través de la consulta de artículos científicos publicados entre 2015 al 2020 en las bases de datos: Scopus, Web of Science y SciELO enriquecido con trabajo de campo en dicho periodo. Los resultados sobresalientes fueron: a) el plan director de uso público del parque es una estrategia de uso sostenible, b) el plan director se integra por nueve programas: entre ellos, el de capacidad de carga (acogida); seguridad para todos(as); seguimiento-evaluación permanente y por supuesto el financiamiento y c) el uso público, desglosa las actividades recreativas, sociales, educativas o culturales que puede realizar el ciudadano o la ciudadana en los espacios naturales protegidos o en proceso de protección con el objeto de disfrutar y conocer su patrimonio tanto natural como cultural. La conclusión relevante es que, el programa de uso público permite la promoción o publicidad de todo parque de tal manera que, los ciudadanos tienen la posibilidad de acceder al conocimiento e incluso disfrute de los paisajes protegidos a través de actividades educativas, investigativas, recreativas y servicios turísticos.
