Our study demonstrates that LPC exhibits intrinsic antimicrobial effects and can enhance the antimicrobial effects of gentamicin for resistant MRSA strains, suggesting that LPC may be a beneficial additive in topical antibiotics for superficial skin infections.
β,β‐Disubstituted β‐amino alcohols has been synthesized in a diastereodivergent manner from chiral secondary nitroalkanes as starting materials. In this key Henry reaction, the use of different protecting groups resulted in the diastereoselective construction of the tetrasubstituted carbon stereocenter with different configuration. Based on this methodology, a total synthesis of manzacidins A and C has been achieved.
A formal total synthesis of manzacidin B is described. b,b-Disubstituted g-hydroxy-b-aminoalcohol, the key structure of manzacidin B, is stereoselectively constructed via sequential Henry reactions. By taking advantage of noncovalent interactions, such as intramolecular hydrogen bonding and chelation, we could diastereodivergently control the stereoselectivity of the Henry reaction.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
