A principal terapia para o tratamento do câncer infantojuvenil é a quimioterapia e seus efeitos adversos mais frequentes são: dor, fadiga, apatia, perda do apetite, emagrecimento, alopecia, hematomas, sangramentos, mucosite, náuseas, entre outros. E o objetivo do trabalho foi identificar na literatura a atuação do enfermeiro frente aos efeitos adversos mais comuns do tratamento quimioterápico pediátrico e para isso, realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura, no período de janeiro de 2010 a fevereiro de 2022, sendo incluídos 21 produções na íntegra. A quimioterapia promove uma série de transformações para crianças e adolescentes, físicas, emocionais e em suas rotinas. Os estudos mostram que aproximadamente 80% desses pacientes apresentaram sintomas que classificam como grave e muito grave. A dor é comum e persistente, e foi o sintoma mais abordado dentre os estudos, seguida da fadiga. A longa jornada de tratamento faz com que o enfermeiro tenha a missão de encorajar e auxiliar os pacientes e seus familiares a superarem as adversidades, e promover a observância e continuidade do tratamento, orientando boas práticas para lidar com os eventos adversos, despertando uma sensação de conforto e segurança. Todos os efeitos adversos do tratamento quimioterápico podem ser adequadamente manejados pelos profissionais da enfermagem visando proporcionar um tratamento menos traumático, com controle e alívio dos sintomas de forma farmacológica ou por meio de terapias alternativas, e promovendo apoio emocional às famílias.
