A Responsabilidade socioambiental tornou-se tema relevante no atual cenário de degradação enfrentado pela sociedade contemporânea que, desde então, busca estratégias para inibir ou minimizar as consequências inerentes a este fato que, porventura, tem se alastrado por muitos anos. O presente artigo pretende contribuir com a questão da responsabilidade social e demonstrar a importância da atuação das Instituições de Ensino na formação dos cidadãos praticantes de ações socioambientais através da utilização de ferramentas sócio-educacionais que leve o discente a repensar suas atitudes. Para tal, o artigo trás, em sua metodologia, uma pesquisa bibliográfica a cerca da abordagem dos principais autores relacionados à temática, onde pudera ser observado o caminho pelo qual formulou-se a necessidade da criação de metas para se alcançar condições socioambientais justas e equilibradas a toda sociedade. Ademais, com a pesquisa, demonstrou se o potencial que a inserção do ambiente de aprendizagem, ao adotar uma política de educação voltada para o ensino ambiental, tem na reconstrução da postura social, cultura e ética do cidadão. Por fim, foi realizado um estudo de caso sobre a atuação socioambiental de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior - IES na Cidade de Volta Redonda, interior do Rio de Janeiro. Dentro do estudo de caso, foi apresentado o perfil da instituição que desenvolveu a ação, a estruturação do projeto, o contexto no qual o projeto foi instalado e a importância da ação na conscientização dos alunos. Portanto, vale enfatizar que o objetivo geral do artigo foi atingido em sua totalidade dentro da pesquisa e que o assunto necessita ser abordado por outros trabalhos a fim de obter a ampliação dos campos de busca objetivando sua melhor disseminação.
