Opacity is a generic security property, that has been defined on (non probabilistic) transition systems and later on Markov chains with labels. For a secret predicate, given as a subset of runs, and a function describing the view of an external observer, the value of interest for opacity is a measure of the set of runs disclosing the secret. We extend this definition to the richer framework of Markov decision processes, where non deterministic choice is combined with probabilistic transitions, and we study related decidability problems with partial or complete observation hypotheses for the schedulers. We prove that all questions are decidable with complete observation and ω-regular secrets. With partial observation, we prove that all quantitative questions are undecidable but the question whether a system is almost surely non opaque becomes decidable for a restricted class of ω-regular secrets, as well as for all ω-regular secrets under finite-memory schedulers.
Abstract. Recent advances in Distributed Computing highlight models and algorithms for autonomous swarms of mobile robots that self-organize and cooperate to solve global objectives. The overwhelming majority of works so far considers handmade algorithms and correctness proofs. This paper is the first to propose a formal framework to automatically design distributed algorithms that are dedicated to autonomous mobile robots evolving in a discrete space. As a case study, we consider the problem of gathering all robots at a particular location, not known beforehand. Our contribution is threefold. First, we propose an encoding of the gathering problem as a reachability game. Then, we automatically generate an optimal distributed algorithm for three robots evolving on a fixed size uniform ring. Finally, we prove by induction that the generated algorithm is also correct for any ring size except when an impossibility result holds (that is, when the number of robots divides the ring size).
Abstract. We study the synthesis problem for external linear or branching specifications and distributed, synchronous architectures with arbitrary delays on processes. External means that the specification only relates input and output variables. We introduce the subclass of uniformly well-connected (UWC) architectures for which there exists a routing allowing each output process to get the values of all inputs it is connected to, as soon as possible. We prove that the distributed synthesis problem is decidable on UWC architectures if and only if the output variables are totally ordered by their knowledge of input variables. We also show that if we extend this class by letting the routing depend on the output process, then the previous decidability result fails. Finally, we provide a natural restriction on specifications under which the whole class of UWC architectures is decidable.
Event clock automata (ECA) are a model for timed languages that has been introduced by Alur, Fix and Henzinger as an alternative to timed automata, with better theoretical properties (for instance, ECA are determinizable while timed automata are not). In this paper, we revisit and extend the theory of ECA. We first prove that no finite time abstract language equivalence exists for ECA, thereby disproving a claim in the original work on ECA. This means in particular that regions do not form a time abstract bisimulation. Nevertheless, we show that regions can still be used to build a finite automaton recognizing the untimed language of an ECA. Then, we extend the classical notions of zones and DBMs to let them handle event clocks instead of plain clocks (as in timed automata) by introducing event zones and Event DBMs (EDBMs). We discuss algorithms to handle event zones represented as EDBMs, as well as (semi-) algorithms based on EDBMs to decide language emptiness of ECA.
This paper presents a study of possible extensions of Pathway Logic to represent and reason about semiquantitative and probabilistic aspects of biological processes. The underlying theme is the annotation of reaction rules with affinity information that can be used in different simulation strategies. Several such strategies were implemented, and experiments carried out to test feasibility, and to compare results of different approaches. Dimerization in the ErbB signalling network, important in cancer biology, was used as a test case.

Abstract. We propose to study concurrent games on a new extension of Vector Addition Systems with States, where inhibition conditions are added for modeling purposes. Games are a well-suited framework to solve control problems, and concurrent semantics reflect realistic situations where the environment can always produce a move before the controller, although it is never required to do so. This is in contrast with previous works, which focused mainly on turn-based semantics. Moreover, we consider asymmetric games, where environment and controller do not have the same capabilities, although they both have restricted power. In this setting, we investigate reachability and safety objectives, which are not dual to each other anymore, and we prove that (i) reachability games are undecidable for finite targets, (ii) they are 2-EXPTIME-complete for upward-closed targets and (iii) safety games are co-NP-complete for finite, upward-closed and semi-linear targets. Moreover, for the decidable cases, we build a finite representation of the corresponding controllers.
