Educational policy shapes the positions of all stakeholders and their mutual
relations in the system of preschool education through its attitude towards
documentation. The attitude towards the function of pedagogical documentation
in preschool education programmes reflects certain views on children,
learning and nature of the programmes. Although contemporary approaches to
preschool education emphasise the issue of documentation, this problem is
dealt with partially and technically in our country. The aim of our research
was to explore preschool teachers? perspective on documentation by
investigating the current situation and teachers? preferences related to
documentation type, as well as to study the purpose, meaning and process of
documentation. The research was conducted on the sample of 300 preschool
teachers. The descriptive method, interviewing and scaling techniques were
used. Research data suggest that the field of documentation is marked by
contradictions in perceiving the meaning and function of documentation, as
well as by discrepancy and lack of integration at the level of conceptions,
practice and educational policy. Changing the current situation in the field
of documentation is not a technical matter of elaboration of certain types
and forms of documentation; it demands explication of the purpose and
function of documentation in keeping with the conception of preschool
education programmes and a systemic approach to changes originating from the
given conception. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. 179060:

The mixed methods research, as a new type of research, is discussed in the
context of re-examining the relation between the two approaches, i.e. the
possibility of not opposing, but connecting, combining and integrating them
within research. The possibility to use such grounding in research as well
could be quite important for pedagogy since the nature of the examined
phenomena in this field is such that the majority has both quantitative and
qualitative aspects. In order to explain the essence of a mixed methods
research, the paper analyses its characteristics, first of all, what elements
are combined, what is the nature of the relation between the combined
elements and why they are combined, as well as its advantages and
difficulties in application. The essential thing in a mixed methods research
is the fact that combining refers to the research process as a whole,
including the ontological and epistemological assumptions it is based on,
which implies that the elements that are combined are understood rather
broadly. The advantages and difficulties in application are considered in the
context of the discussion of the possibility to combine all research
elements, neutralise the limitations of quantitative and qualitative research
methodology, implement the complex combining procedures etc. [Projekat

This mixed methods research was aimed to explore relationship between the human resource development activities and the commitment of employees. In the research, we applied explanatory sequential design using nested samples for the quantitative and qualitative components of the study to foster deeper understandings of these relationships. In the quantitative component, data were obtained with scales, and analyzed from 609 employees in different companies in Serbia, while for qualitative component semi-structured interviews were conducted with 29 respondents from the same sample. The collected data were subjected (in the first component) to a few common (frequencies, std. deviation, means, etc.) and more complex statistical proceedings (canonical correlation analysis), and in the second component were subjected to the qualitative content analysis. The quantitative results indicate complex interaction of affective, continuance, and normative components of organizational commitment with different human resource development activities, while the qualitative data revealed deeper meaning of these connections. 1
