Water flow measurements are fundamental for processes’ management. In water companies the Pitot Cole tube is an instrument widely used due to its advantages such as low cost and easy installation. Despite its higher accep- tation, studies indicated fails in the pressure taps as its complex geometry makes it difficult to produce identical pieces, as well as reports of its collision with pipes, causing them to become deformed. To increase the reliability, simplicity and robustness of this equipment, this paper proposes the hexagonal prismatic configuration for pres- sure taps. The prototype was submitted to a calibration test and results showed a stable velocity coefficient with values lower than the Pitot Cole coefficient.
