Technology transfer from universities to the business environment plays a key role in use of the open innovation concept. Meanwhile, in Ukraine which has a sufficiently high level of scientific and technological capacity, universities do not fully respond to market demands and do not receive the proper commercial results. One of the reasons for this is that current methods and models do not allow justifying the level of techno­logy transferability. This article aims to present a methodological approach to assessing the transferability of technologies from universities to the business environment and to develop a method for determining the integral index of technology transferability. Therefore, the study considered and substantiated options for this transfer based on the sale of technology licenses by the universities; creation of spin-off companies by the university; technology transfer as startups; conclusion of a joint activity agreements; scientific and technical cooperation. A market technology launch matrix was developed to select these models. The developed methodological tools can be used to compare investment projects. The results obtained were tested based on technology of personal passive optically stimulated luminescence dosimetry of ionizing radiation.
A holistic approach to R&D products’ evaluation for commercialization under open innovations is developed. The approach is tested on the example of the device of the interferometric determination of the refractive index of crystalline materials in the optical range. The proposed approach will allow setting a price that will satisfy all the parties of a transfer agreement with a higher level of accuracy and will meet market requirements. Unlike popular methods of evaluating the R&D product, a holistic approach will, on the one hand, be based on the actual costs and the break-even level of a R&D product and, on the other hand, will determine how much the consumer is receptive to a R&D product, and, then again, will show how the added value of the product will develop under the influence of market effects. It is noted that the application of a holistic approach to R&D products’ evaluation for commercialization should be supplemented by assessing the willingness of potential customers to purchase this R&D product at a specific price. It is proved that the proposed holistic approach to R&D products’ evaluation for commercialization is multifunctional. The approach can be applied to different types of economic activity, R&D products, and types of markets. The obtained prices based on the application of a holistic approach to R&D products’ evaluation for commercialization and the results of marketing research of the interferometry market testified to potential prospects of the commercialization of a R&D product of the interferometric determination of the refractive index of crystalline materials in the optical range and its long-term competitiveness. Based on the results, the key provisions of the concept of providing competitive benefits for the period of implementation of the analyzed R&D product are identified. Taking into account fundamental elements of the open innovation paradigm underpins the authors’ holistic approach.
International norms regarding educational activity are aimed at forming entrepreneurial competencies in students. The motivational readiness of student youth to implement these entrepreneurial competencies in practice reflects the potential for entrepreneurship development. Despite the social group of student youths being considered belonging to the category of economically inactive population, students are traditionally engaged in social production. New changes in labor and consumption conditions of higher education services contribute to the growing trend in students who combine study and work. Considering this trend, we investigate the impact of students’ work experience on forming their entrepreneurial potential. The analytical component of this study is performed according to the materials obtained through a questionnaire, which covers 746 students. The findings prove that students who engage in employment before studying at university tended to combine university studies and employment in social production. Having such an employment experience increases students’ confidence regarding their entrepreneurial abilities and has a positive effect on students’ intentions to start their own businesses. Simultaneously, the lack of experience in management assistance does not constrain students’ intentions to start a business.
