As knowledge of English becomes a priority for the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a modern military specialist is faced with a number of requirements, one of which is the formation of professionally oriented intercultural competence. Thus, a cadet, who has a certain conceptual and terminological apparatus in his/her specialization, has the opportunity to test his/her own knowledge and skills, to provide self-analysis of the level of formation of both intercultural and subject competences, as well as to receive an impartial feedback from foreign experts on the readiness for professional activity. The article considers the main notions that reveal the conceptual field of intercultural competence. The concepts of "competence", "competency", "culture", "intercultural competence" are defined and their historical-comparative analysis is carried out. It is found, that the professional training of cadets is carried out as a complex pedagogical influence, which has the purpose of developing a number of competences, among which the priority is currently considered to be intercultural competence. The essence of the concept of "competence" and variations of its interpretation by scientists, as well as differentiation with the concept of "competency", are clarified. The role of the humanities in general and the foreign language in particular in the development of professional competences of military specialists is noted. The generic function of the competence approach, which combines many traditional approaches, is mentioned. Intercultural competence is presented as a system of interconnected elements that position the personality in interaction with society through communication, which, in turn, is a means of adapting to the cultural values of society and acquiring educational competences to form a qualified graduate of a higher military educational institution. The hierarchy of competences is defined, which consists of three levels: general, special and professional, which are represented by integral, general and professional competences, respectively
The relevance of the article is substantiated by the development of intercultural competence which is assumed to be the required quality for military personnel nowadays. The article considers the analysis of features and prospects of "dialogue of cultures" educational approach application through the intercultural competence development among military students of higher military educational institutions in the course of foreign language training. The concept of dialogue and its role in the development of foreign language and intercultural competence is defined. The necessity to develop the dialogic speech competence with the use of other cultures interaction is substantiated. The article analyzes the basic principles of "dialogue of cultures" approach, which were established in the late 20th century based on the ideas of dialogue of cultures school by the philosopher B. Bibler. The article elicits a number of modern teaching approaches, which in combination with the technology of "dialogue of cultures" will help to form the necessary competencies of cadets of higher military educational institutions for professional communication. The algorithm of introduction of technology of "dialogue of cultures" provided in four stages is offered: diagnostics of readiness of cadets for communication, search of motivating factors, application of system of exercises for communicative interaction between cadets in the form of dialogue, providing feedback. It was found that the use of "dialogue of cultures" approach promotes developing a number of key competencies, i.e. the development of speech skills and critical thinking, the ability to search for information and use it in the speech, the enhancement of teamwork skills, and training through dialogue. Such competencies development is the condition to form intercultural competence, which enables servicemen to solve their professional tasks, as they affect the formation of cultural policy during international communication with representatives of various strata of society.
In accordance with the European and world tendencies of professional training of military personnel, it is mandatory to emphasize the problem of forming the intercultural competence among cadets of higher military educational institutions. The process of formation of such a competence should be experimentally approved. The general approaches to the structure of the experimental research program are analyzed and the necessity of a systematic approach to the formulation of the principles of scientific research, which are a means of proving the research hypothesis, is substantiated. The program of the pedagogical experiment, aimed at testing the hypothesis, is described, which assumes that the level of intercultural competence of cadets of higher military educational institutions increases under the condition of involvement in the process of active communication by means of intercultural dialogue in the process of learning foreign languages, which reproduces the substantive and social content of professional competences in the process of mastering cultural knowledge and communication skills during reproductive, cognitive-exploratory, research and creative activities. Tasks, stages, methods of experimental research are characterized. The stages and directions of introduction of the author's model of formation of intercultural competence of higher military educational institutions cadets in the process of foreign language training in accordance with structural components (motivational-value, cognitive-linguistic, communicative-strategic and evaluative-reflexive) are revealed.
The paper highlights the main motivation aspects of military highly specialized language training of future intelligence officers of Ukrainian Armed Forces. The motivation resources for forming the professional foreign language competence of military students of higher military educational establishments are determined. The effective conditions for studying professional terminology as the basis for the skills of a future expert are specified. The necessity of organizing an effective training process of studying professional terms is substantiated with the aim of creating the most effective conditions for learning professional terms for terminology, the latter being the basis of professional communication. The algorithm for introducing highly specialized terminology is outlined in order to better comprehend and reveal the essence of the concept and structure of the terms. The emphasis is laid on the technique of introducing highly specialized terminology. Thus the process of foreign language classes organization makes it possible to master professional texts in the original. The authors maintain that main methods of rendering contemporary English military vocabulary (single- and multi-component terminology, abbreviations and shortenings, set terminological units, neologisms) into Ukrainian are as follows: lexical equivalent translation, transformation translation borrowing (transcription / transliteration), descriptive translation, loan translation and others. The difficulties in rendering military vocabulary of the NATO publications are related to the pragmatic aspects of translation.
