Introdução: Atualmente o mundo atravessa uma pandemia de infecção viral humana, SARS-COV-2, em que culmina em pneumonia oportunista não viral sendo uma das complicações mais comuns podendo estar associada à síndrome respiratória aguda grave. Objetivos: Analisar o perfil dos principais antibióticos das prescrições em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva - UTI Adulto de um Hospital de Referência Covid-19 no Estado de Alagoas. Material e métodos: Estudo epidemiológico de carater exploratório, quantitativo e do tipo documental, no qual, analisaram-se os prontuários de pacientes admitidos no setor da UTI, entre o período de abril de 2020 e junho de 2020 referente aos três meses da primeira onda em Alagoas. Os dados foram tabulados através do programa Microsoft Office Excel®. Resultados: No periodo referido, evidenciou-se 218 pacientes internados na UTI Adulto com uso de antibióticos. Foram prescritos durante esse período 564 antibióticos para os 218 pacientes. As classes de antibióticos mais frequentes nas prescrições analisadas foram as Cefalosporinas com 199 (34%), sendo a Ceftriaxona o principal representante, seguida dos Penicilinas com 117 (19,1%) e pelos Carbapenêmicos com 95 (15,1%). A maioria era do sexo masculino (67%) e sexo feminino com 33%. A média de idade foi de 58 anos. Conclusão: Ressalta-se que a compreensão do uso de antibióticos é importante, pois eles desempenham um papel importante nas UTI´s, e estão diretamente relacionados à resistência bacteriana, que é um problema de saúde pública no mundo. Assim, no presente estudo, o número de sepse foi demasiado, indicando um número crescente de infecções hospitalares devido também a serem meses da primeira onda covid-19 no Estado. Portanto, é necessário entender o local de ação, epidemiologia e características microbiológicas mais comuns para estabelecer estratégias eficazes no uso racional de antibióticos.
