The case of the important German publishing house “Suhrkamp” illustrates the attitude towards Russian literature in the post-war Germany. The spreading of Russian literature in “Suhrkamp” was made possible by interpreters and cultural mediators like Gisela Drohla, Hugo Huppert, Wolfgang Kasack and Ilma Rakusa. Complicated relations between them and the editors of the publishing house influenced the selection of Russian books and authors for translation and the publishing strategy towards Russian literature in general.
