By the rapid growth of available data, providing data-driven solutions for nonlinear (fractional) dynamical systems becomes more important than before. In this paper, a new fractional neural network model that uses fractional order of Jacobi functions as its activation functions for one of the hidden layers is proposed to approximate the solution of fractional differential equations and fractional partial differential equations arising from mathematical modeling of cognitive-decision-making processes and several other scientific subjects. This neural network uses roots of Jacobi polynomials as the training dataset, and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is chosen as the optimizer. The linear and nonlinear fractional dynamics are considered as test examples showing the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed neural network. The numerical results are compared with the obtained results of some other networks and numerical approaches such as meshless methods. Numerical experiments are presented confirming that the proposed model is accurate, fast, and feasible.
The main aim of this study is to introduce a 2-layered artificial neural network (ANN) for solving the Black–Scholes partial differential equation (PDE) of either fractional or ordinary orders. Firstly, a discretization method is employed to change the model into a sequence of ordinary differential equations (ODE). Subsequently, each of these ODEs is solved with the aid of an ANN. Adam optimization is employed as the learning paradigm since it can add the foreknowledge of slowing down the process of optimization when getting close to the actual optimum solution. The model also takes advantage of fine-tuning for speeding up the process and domain mapping to confront the infinite domain issue. Finally, the accuracy, speed, and convergence of the method for solving several types of the Black–Scholes model are reported.
A spectral method based on B-spline functions is proposed for the numerical solution of the boundary layer flow of an Powell-Eyring fluid over a stretching sheet. First, the B-spline functions formula is represented, and the quasilinearization method is used to approximate the nonlinear equation of the problem with a sequence of linear equations. Then, the collocation method is used to approximate the answer of these equations and illustrate the relation between the shape parameters and the stream function using three various degrees of B-spline functions.
