The purpose of the study was to identify the levels of statistical thinking among students of Al-Ghad International College for Applied Medical Sciences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the effect of gender differences. The study used quantitative data collection methods for one group such as observation checklists and qualitative data collection methods such as interviews and focus group discussion. Performance tasks were designed to classify students according to Langrall and Mooney (2002) statistical thinking evaluation framework. Each task has its own subtasks and objectives spread over four statistical skills in which validity and reliability were verified. The data was yielded from the measurements of 41 students' statistical thinking levels enrolled in biostatistics course in the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019 . The results showed that the level of overall students' statistical thinking abilities was at the transitional level, followed by the idiosyncratic and quantitative levels respectively, while none of them reached the analytical level. The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences in students' thinking levels attributed to gender. The study recommended the necessity of linking statistical activities to the reality of students' lives and specializations, focusing on the practical aspects rather than the theoretical ones, holding training programs to develop the capabilities of faculty members to classify their students according to their level of statistical thinking, and creating programs to develop statistical thinking among students.
It has been observed that students still lack understanding of the Shari'a concepts and principles and how to deal with them. Also, a lot of students deal with the Islamic Education superficially, with the absence of applying critical, reflective and creative thinking, on top of that, if the Islamic Education studies remain mainly dependent on memorization and reciting, it will not leaving tangible effects on students or their lifestyles, which necessitates forming modern educational models that help students develop the skills of reflective thinking of the Islamic Education. The study investigated the impact of a cloud-based learning program in developing reflective thinking skills in Islamic education among UAE students. The sample consisted of 94 students from tenth grade, who were divided into two equal groups: an experimental group that studied the course using a cloud-based learning program and a control group that studied the same course in the usual way. To achieve the study objectives, reflective thinking (pre/post-testing) was applied. The results showed a significant difference in reflective thinking as whole and all its skills, due to the teaching method in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed no significant difference between the mean of the experimental group's students on the post-test due to the gender variable This study contributed in developing an educational program based on cloud-based learning and educational techniques in educational curriculum and Islamic educational teaching methods, and revealed its effectiveness in improving reflective thinking skills. According to these findings, the study recommended the use of cloudbased learning strategies, especially in the future shifting towards the digital curricula. Contribution/Originality:The most important contributions of this study were to develop an educational program based on cloud computing in teaching Islamic education that was proven effective. This study is one of the first studies that taught the Islamic education curriculum using cloud computing. This study also encourages schools to provide technology infrastructure and devices, tools necessary to activate cloud computing services, in a manner compatible with the numbers of students and their needs and calls for the preparation of various programs in the light of modern technological teaching strategies, especially in light of the future trend towards computerizing curricula. INTRODUCTIONAdvances in technology offer new opportunities in promoting teaching and learning new technologies enables individuals to customize the environment in which they work or learn with a range of tools to meet their needs and
The various types of social media that contain news and publications play a major role in evoking the emotions of adolescent students, which leads to a strong impact on their emotions and thoughts. Also, the temperaments expressed through social networks are widely contagious. For example, reading a large number of messages from friends may generate negative feelings and this negative effect may increase for secondary school students who spend more than two hours a day on social media which puts them at risk of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, etc., or could push them toward positive thinking about the future and the ambitions they have. All of this calls for research to understand the nature of these effects, whether negative or positive thus take the right actions as well as to guide the students and support them psychologically. This was the objective of this study. An analytical descriptive approach was applied to investigate the relationship between social media and the level of ambition, depressive symptoms and anxiety among twelfth grade students in a secondary school in Irbid. In this study the researcher used measures for each of the following: 1)the use of social media 2) ambitions 3) the depressive symptoms 4) anxiety. A total of 552 students were selected randomly from twelfth grade students enrolled in a secondary school in Irbid for the academic year 2017/2018. The analysis of the results highlighted a statistically significant positive relationship between the aim of using the account along with engaging in topics of interest on the social networking sites and ambition, a statistically significant positive relationship between the duration of using social networking sites along with engaging in topics of interest on social networking sites and both of depressive symptoms and anxiety, and that this relationship among males is stronger than that of females. The results showed that the duration of use of the account and engaging in topics of interest in the social networking sites indicated approximately 16% of the variation in the level of ambition. Also, the topics that attract attention on social networking sites and the duration of the use of the account both explained approximately 20% of the variance in the level of depressive symptoms. Furthermore, the duration of use of the account and the purpose of using the account both accounted for about 15% of the variation in the level of anxiety. The Study
