ABSTRUCTWe discuss the design of a compact parallel joint transform correator (PJTC) using four binary zone plate array (BZPA) as a Fourier transform lens. The external dimensions of the hybrid opt-electronic correlator is 23 cm x I 5cm x I 6.3 cm, which includes the PJTC system in the upper stage and some of driving circuits and an LD for a light source in the lower stage. Experimentally, we implemented this compact PJTC system for facial recognition with database of I 00 persons and obtained reliable discrimination results. Furthermore, we propose a novel method of pre-processing so that any general users could easily operate the compact PJTC system and constantly obtained the same size extracted images, by fixing three points; the edges of both eyes and the low end of nose, when normalizing the facial image size. We confirmed the ability of our system to meet the conditions for recognition by JTC.
Holographic label processor for photonic network is proposed. We observe process of time-to-space conversion for optical code consisting of 2ps pulses at a wavelength of 1.55jtm with 100km transmission. And as a preliminary verification, label recognition using with an angular multiplexed spectral hologram as an address bank is investigated by simulations and experiments. It is confirmed the feasibility from the results.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
