In August 2013, a national strategy group convened in Washington, DC to clarify a framework for trauma-informed primary care (TIPC) for women. The group was motivated by an increasing body of research and experience revealing that people from all races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds come to primary care with common conditions (e.g., heart, lung, and liver diseases, obesity, diabetes, depression, substance use, and sexually transmitted infections) that can be traced to recent and past trauma. These conditions are often stubbornly refractory to treatment, in part because we are not addressing the trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that underlie and perpetuate them. The purpose of the strategy group was to review the evidence linking trauma to health and provide practical guidance to clinicians, researchers, and policymakers about the core components of an effective response to recent and past trauma in the setting of primary care. We describe the results of this work and advocate for the adoption of TIPC as a practical and ethical imperative for women's health and well-being. An Unrecognized OpportunityJanice 1 is a 45-year-old woman with poorly controlled diabetes, obesity, and alcoholism. She feels ashamed about her alcohol use and about her body. She fears that her clinician will be angry with her for not checking her blood sugar, not losing weight, and for missing multiple gynecology appointments. Janice's clinician has worked with her for over a year and is frustrated by their inability to make progress together on her health issues. Janice has never revealed to any of her clinicians that she was sexually abused during childhood nor that she is currently experiencing severe emotional abuse by her husband.For many people like Janice and her provider, understanding the connection between traumatic experiences and health can be transformative and healing. When patients understand that childhood and adult trauma underlie many illnesses and unhealthy behaviors, they often stop blaming themselves, feel more self-acceptance, and make progress toward health and well-being. Providers who understand this connection are able to create clinical environments that are less triggering for both patients and staff, identify referrals to appropriate trauma-specific services, and develop more effective therapeutic alliances and treatment plans with their patients.Our strategy group worked to clarify a practical framework for TIPC, a patient-centered approach that acknowledges and addresses the broad impact of both recent and lifetime trauma on health behaviors and outcomes. Background: Trauma is increasingly recognized as a near-universal experience among women living with HIV (WLHIV) and a key contributor to HIV acquisition, morbidity, and mortality. Methods:We present data from the baseline analysis of a planned intervention trial of the impact of trauma-informed health care on physical, mental, and social health outcomes of WLHIV in one clinic, with particular focus on quality of life and viral suppression. Data were collected through interviewer-administered surveys and electronic health record data abstraction.Results: Among 104 WLHIV, 97.1% of participants reported having experienced lifetime trauma, and participants had experienced on average 4.2 out of 10 Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). WLHIV with more lifetime trauma were significantly more likely to report PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms; significantly more likely to report potentially harmful alcohol and drug use; and had significantly poorer quality of life. In addition, women who had experienced more lifetime trauma were significantly less likely to report being on and adhering to HIV medications, although trauma was not significantly associated with having an undetectable HIV viral load.1 Conclusion: These data suggest that trauma is associated with much of the morbidity and mortality experienced by women living with HIV. The results of this study support the implementation and study of trauma-informed approaches to healthcare for WLHIV.

Media coverage of HIV criminal cases has deployed sexualized and racialized tropes, and portrayed defendants as villains. Several media analyses of HIV criminal trials have been conducted, though only one was in the US, and none involved young Black gay men, who are disproportionately impacted by HIV. We conducted content and textual analyses of 91 media stories focused on the 2015 case of Michael Johnson, a Black gay college student living with HIV who was convicted under Missouri’s HIV non-disclosure laws. To capture both dominant and resistant meanings in news stories, we included mainstream news outlets, as well as HIV-related, African American and GLBT community-oriented outlets. Open and axial coding were carried out by a team of four researchers and thematic analysis was used to explore how media framed Johnson, his sexual activities, condom use, and alleged nondisclosure. Results showed that media stories portrayed Johnson as dishonest and sexually predatory by drawing on narratives of deception and framing him as the sole agentic actor in his sexual encounters. We argue that these media frames, coupled with what is included and excluded in media coverage negatively impacts public opinion of PLWH, reinforces HIV criminalization ideologies, and performs a disciplinary function in the lives of PLWH.

In this paper five user Absolute Polar Duty Cycle Division Multiplexing (APDCDM) is done in electrical domain. Here each user generates different RZ duty cycle pulses and data rate of 20Gbps, the 100Gbps signal is transmitted through a Standard Single Mode Fibre. It has been observed that at the signal is successfully transmitted up to 75 Km distance and Q-factor also calculated as 15dB.
