This paper reports how potential users are involved in the design of interactive learning media. This paper describes the responses of teachers and students about how learning media are applied in schools, a detailed description of the desired learning media and how learning media contribute to improve student learning outcomes. This research used quantitative and qualitative methods. The instruments were questionnaires and interview sheets for teachers and students. The data from research instruments of students included learning styles, responses to using learning media in the classroom, and responses to HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) questions. The data from the teachers included their activities in the opening, core, and closure activity. In general, the media was expected to increase the enthusiasm and motivation of students in learning. For this reason, learning media that contains challenging questions and multimedia that attract students’ attention are developed based on media development indicators.
Efforts to developing the quality of education is empowering educators. Positive activities that accommodate teachers to improve the quality of education are the activities of the Community of Practice (CoP). Community of Practice (CoP) or KKG in Indonesia Context is a forum for professional development for primary school teachers, and one of which is improving teacher performance. The effectiveness of the CoP really needs to be studied in depth. Therefore, a study was conducted on the role of CoP in improving the performance of primary school teachers in Riau Province. The method is a quantitative descriptive study, which describes the role of CoP activities in improving teacher performance in Riau through quantitative data. The research was carried out in May-August 2020. The participant was elementary schools’ teachers in Riau Province. The data source is the primary school teachers totalling 60 people. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that there are several roles of CoP activities in improving teacher performance, among others: through CoP teachers can discuss in construct learning tools, teachers were able to arrange lesson plans for active learning based on analysis of student needs, learning materials are arranged based on various learning sources, using media active learning, analysing evaluation test and conducting assessments according to active learning and student abilities.
Kemampuan self regulation merupakan salah satu komponen penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan siswa. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak mahasiswa yang terlambat mengumpulkan tugas, tidak bisa mengikuti perkuliahan dengan baik, serta tidak jarang ditemui mahasiswa yang tidak siap saat presentasi. Ketidaksiapan tersebut dikarenakan mereka tidak bisa mengatur perencanaan diri secara efektif, hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa masih rendahnya kemampuan self regulation mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui peningkatan self regulation mahasiswa melalui strategi perkuliahan “Students as Researchers” berbasis online learning. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-eksperimen, dengan desain One-Group-Pretest-Posttes. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu seluruh mahasiswa pendidikan Biologi Universitas Riau. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi semester 3 (tiga) kelas A yang mengambil matakuliah Media Pembelajaran di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket self regulation awal dan akhir serta lembar observasi selama perkuliahan dengan menggunakan strategi “Students as Researchers” berbasis online learning. Angket self regulation telah diuji validitas dan reabilitasnya sebelum digunakan dalam penelitian. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan nilai normalisasi gain dan persentase ketercapaian kemampuan self regulation mahasiswa berdasarkan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan self regulation mahasiswa setelah perkuliahan dengan strategi “Students as Researchers” berbasis online learning mengalami peningkatan dengan N-gain sebesar 0,71 dan berada dalam kategori tinggi. Indikator self regulation yang mengalami peningkatan paling tinggi yaitu mengatur rencana secara efektif. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu kemampuan self regulation mahasiswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui strategi perkuliahan “Students as Researchers” berbasis online learning. Penelitian selanjutnya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu melihat aspek lain yang dapat ditingkatkan melalui strategi perkuliahan “Students as Researchers”.
COVID-19 attacked Wuhan city in December 2019 where the number of cases increased rapidly, but the clinical information of infected patients was limited. One of the negative effects related is the education sector. COVID-19 also changed the learning model drastically, all learning activities were carried out online. This causes students difficulties in learning. The purpose of the research was to analyze the difficulty factors of physics education students in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This type of research is descriptive research. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Research subjects were 80 students from Physics education at FKIP Riau University. The results of research online learning difficulties come from two factors, namely external and internal factors. External factors include non-current internet networks and very many student assignments. Internal factors related to students' learning difficulties, students generally have difficulty communicating and discussing both fellow students and with lecturers, misconceptions occur, difficulties in summarizing the material, and eye discomfort due to cellphone and laptop radiation.
Today natural disasters are a global issue. Several countries have made strategies in natural disaster mitigation. Natural disasters of land forest fires, smog, floods, and landslides are common disasters in Riau province. Environment and natural disaster phenomena are closely related to physics. Integrated Physics materials of natural disasters can be applied in secondary schools. The teaching materials in general consist of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that students must learn to achieve a standard competence. The purpose of the research is analyze the physics instructional material of natural disasters to build physics modules integrated with natural disasters and mitigation in secondary schools. The method used ADDIE model (Analyza, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). This research in analyze. The define (analyze) stage is done through field study and literature study to collect the kinds of material hat occur in the concept. The scope of the study analyzed the material physics curriculum 2013 high school integrated natural disasters namely particle dynamics, rotation dynamics and equilibrium rigid body, static fluids, dynamic fluids, heat and displacement. This research was conducted at SMAN 15 Pekanbaru City. The school used a revised 2013 curriculum. This research includes qualitative approach research and descriptive research type. The physics that can be integrated are the rotational dynamics and equilibrium of rigid objects, the weight points of objects, static and dynamic fluids and heat and displacement. The material is integrated into the material of natural disasters that often occur in Riau province, namely landslides, forest fires, smog and floods.
