This study's aim is to analyze heart rate dynamics in subjects with diabetes by measures of heart rate variability (HRV). The correlation of chaotic global parameters in the two cohorts is able to assess the probability of cardiac failure and other dynamical diseases. Adults (46) were divided into two equal groups. The autonomic evaluation consisted of measuring HRV for 30 min in supine position in absence of any physical, sensory, or pharmacological stimuli. Chaotic global parameters are able to statistically determine which series of electrocardiograph interpeak intervals in short time-series are diabetic and which are not. The chaotic forward parameter that applies all three parameters is suggested to be the most appropriate and robust algorithm. This was decided after tests for normality; followed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA1); (P < 0.09) and Kruskal-Wallis technique (P < 0.03). Principal component analysis implied two components represent 99.8% of total variance. Therefore, diabetes is a disease which reduces the chaotic response and, as such may be termed a dynamical condition such as are cardiac arrest, asthma, and epilepsy.

Functional training (FT) promotes benefits in various physical abilities; however, its effect on autonomic modulation, cardiorespiratory parameters and quality of life in the healthy adult population is unknown, and thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of  FT on these variables in healthy young women. The study consisted of 29 women, distributed into two groups: the FT Group (FTG; n = 13; 23 ± 2·51 years; 21·90 ± 2·82 kg m(-) ²) and the Control Group (CG; n = 16; 20·56 ± 1·03 years; 22·12 ± 3·86 kg m(-) ²). The FTG performed periodized FT for 12 weeks, three times a week. The following were evaluated: autonomic modulation (heart rate variability), cardiorespiratory parameters and quality of life (SF-36 Questionnaire). The Student's t-test for unpaired data or the Mann-Whitney test was used to compare the differences obtained between the final moment and the initial moment of the studied groups (P<0·05). The FTG demonstrated significant improvements in quality of life and autonomic modulation (P<0·05), but not in the cardiorespiratory parameters. Functional training was able to produce improvements in autonomic modulation and quality of life.

Introduction; Sarcopenia are frequently observed in cancer patients and was associated with poor prognosis. Objectives; to determine the association of nutritional status, body composition, and clinic parameters with sarcopenia in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods; We conducted a cross-sectional study of 197 patients with CRC. The sarcopenia elements, including lumbar skeletal muscle index (SMI), handgrip strength, and gait speed were measured. The SMI was assessed by computed tomography at third lumbar vertebra. Phase angle (PA), serum albumin (SAlb), muscle attenuation (MA), and the scored patient-generated subjective global assessment (PG-SGA) were also evaluated. Univariate and multivariate analysis of factors associated with sarcopenia were performed. Results; Sarcopenia was present in 29 of 195 patients (15%) and was significantly correlated with advance age, lower body mass index (BMI), SAlb, PA, MA, higher PG-SGA score, and malnutrition (PG-SGA B). In univariate analysis, age, BMI, SAlb, PA, MA, PG-SGA score, and malnutrition (PG-SGA B) were associated with sarcopenia. Multivariable analysis revealed that BMI, SAlb, PA, MA, and PG-SGA score were independent predictors of sarcopenia. Conclusion; BMI, SAlb, PA, MA, and PG-SGA score were independent predictors of sarcopenia in patients with CRC.

PLB led to a loss of fractal correlation properties of heart rate in the direction of linearity in patients with COPD as well as an increase in vagal activity and impact on the spectral analysis. The difference in the magnitude of the changes produced by PLB between groups may be related to the presence of the disease and alterations in the respiration rate.

We show (in a completely analytical and exact manner) that an efficient magnetic field amplification method is operative during the bounce in a time-dependent gauge coupling model. The cosmological magnetic fields so generated have particular spectral features, and may be observed by future CMB measurements and by direct cluster measurements.
