Objective: In patients with isolated soleal vein thrombosis (SVT), the relation between acute thrombi and positive anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) was investigated. Subjects and Methods: The subjects were 116 lower extremities in 86 patients with SVT. They were diagnosed and examined by ultrasonography and blood serum analysis (D-dimer, ANA), and had been followed up every three months.

The efficacy of the H2 receptor antagonist, cimetidine, in the treatment of a patient with porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) was evaluated. After administration of cimetidine for 2 weeks, urinary excretion of uroporphyrin (UP) and coproporphyrin (CP) was significantly decreased.Urinary porphyrin levels remained low even after the cessation ofcimetidine for 1 week. Although the readministration of cimetidine did not decrease porphyrin excretion, skin lesions were markedly improved, and serum y-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), aminotransferases and serum ferritin decreased to the normal range. These results suggest that, in addition to efficacy in the treatment of acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) and erythropoietic protoporpyria (EPP), cimetidine is effective in the treatment of PCT.

Objective:The relationship between specific distributions of isolated soleal vein thrombosis (SV T ) and risk factors was investigated. Subjects and Methods: The subjects included 93 patients with SV T diagnosed with ultrasonography. Results: In the acute thrombus distribution, the thrombi of central veins were significantly more frequent than the thrombi of medial veins in the unilateral SV T. The thrombi of central veins were not more significantly frequent than the thrombi of medial veins in the bilateral SV T.
