The central Bohemian hillfort-type site in Tismice is one of the largest (20–22 ha) in Bohemia from the Early to Middle Hillfort period (8th–9th century) and has been studied for years using non-destructive methods. The study, which presents the results of the complete geophysical survey of the site as well as the results of small-scale trenching from 2013, is focussed on an analysis of non-ferrous metal ornaments (c. 170 pcs., mostly belt and horse harness decorations) and analyses of evidence of craft production – jewellerymaking, metalsmithing and metal casting (ingots, blanks). It presents the earliest evidence of work with gold in early medieval Bohemia (2018 excavation) as well as natural science radiocarbon and magnetic absolute dates, which supplement dating on the basis of Carolingian coin and imports. The internally divided hillfort was an elite residence (gilded ornaments, spurs, coin) and for a short time served as a supra-regional centre that not only received and redistributed but also produced items of statutory importance (belt and horse harness ornaments, pendants, spurs). Radiocarbon dating places the multiphase early medieval settlement and fortifications in the period from the final third of the 8th century until the end of the 9th century. A detailed evaluation of the stratigraphy will be another step towards a comprehensive interpretation of this site. Spurs as the Evidence of the Presence of Elites in Bohemia in the 8th and 9th Centuries Abstract: This article presents new information about bronze and iron spurs with hooks from Bohemia. The number of sites that have yielded bronze spurs thus rose to six, the total of sites with spurs with hooks being 23 or 24. New types and variants were documented. Spurs belong with important finds with relative chronological sensitivity; the research focused on the oldest groups with hooks and loops among which several imports were determined, including spurs with discs. RFA analyses of several bronze items were conducted and their composition was compared to that of spurs from Moravia. Some of the spurs were probably pewtered, silvered or gilded (Mikulčice, Skorkov). At the same time, technological details such as the sharpening of hooks (Sadská) and an attempt to reattach a broken hook using a soldering iron (Mukov) were noted. Some finds that do not come from hillforts probably indicate the course of long-distance routes. Key words: spurs -early Middle Ages -Bohemia -Moravia -Carolingian import -RFA analyses -pewtering. To totiž umožní lépe demonstrovat sociální statutární význam ostruh v tehdejší společnosti.Od souhrnu poznatků o ostruhách s háčky z Čech uplynulo více než 20 let (Profantová 1994). Novější nálezy byly publikovány jen z Toušně (Profantová-Špaček 2003) a též z Češova (Profantová 2012, obr. 2:8).
In response to the new find of a small silver trapezoid casket — i.e. kaptorga — from the grave of female H 2103 from Hostivice-Palouky, we focused our paper on the small group of such amulet caskets from Central Bohemia, decorated with engraved animal motifs on a punched background and with a knot made with the assistance of a pair of compasses on their lids and dated to the 2nd half of the 10th century. The kaptorga from Hostivice belongs to the Bohemian openable construction type IA, and was decorated with an engraving of a pair of birds with their heads turned on eitherr side of a stylized tree of life with leaf-shaped tendrils. Most of the finds from Hostivice, Klecany II, Praha-Lumbe Garden were produced in Prague during the 2nd half of the 10th century.
Regiony, z nichž jsou v současné době dostupná reprezentativní a v dílčím rozsahu analyzovaná výzkumná data (Českobrodsko a Kolínsko, oblast dolního toku Berounky), nabízejí optikou kovových předmětů 7. až první třetiny 9. století výrazně odlišný pohled na sídelní strukturu tehdejších Čech, která zahrnuje nadregionálně provázaná výrobní a distribuční centra, samostatná sídla či stanoviště nejvyšších společenských elit, zatímco nálezy z periferních oblastí ukazují významné komunikační koridory a rozšiřují nálezový fond české archeologie o zcela nové kategorie nálezů.
Raně středověké jehlice vyrobené z různých materiálů patří v širším evropském kontextu k méně běžným nálezům. Nově nalezené exempláře zejména z Kněží hory u Katovic a Tismic dokládají míru rozšíření tohoto artefaktu, možnou jinakost v odívání v prostředí raně středověkých výšinných poloh a přispívají k diskusi týkající se datace a interpretace solitérních artefaktů nalezených mimo uzavřené celky.
