Heat effects and the work in stretching a polycarbonate are measured in a wide range of stretching rates and at two different temperatures. Conclusions are drawn on the enthalpy increase during the stretching process. Indirect conclusions on the entropy variation during stretching seem to be possible. The effect of temperature balance is confirmed and the strain relaxation of the stretched material seems also to be coupled with heat production.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
