The direct determination of arsenites with hypobromite by amperometric titration in alcaline medium is studied. Although the total normality of the hypobromite solution is constant when determined by the iodometric method in acid medium, a difference occurs by amperometric determination in bicarbonate or sodium hydroxide medium, which depends also on the titration rate. The presence of two compounds is established : hypobromite with constant normality, reacting instantly and bromite with changing normality due to the slow reaction rate.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
