ChemInform Abstract Cocondensation of the benzaldehyde (I) with methyl benzyl ketone (II) in the presence of ammonium acetate (III) gives the piperidones (IV). The same reaction of salicylaldehyde (V) leads to the formation of the analogous piperidone (VI), together with the spiro compounds (VII) and (VIII). The piperidones (IV) are converted to the carbinols (IX) and the amino derivatives (XII). The compounds synthesized have bactericidal, fungicidal, and herbicidal activity but show no acaricidal or growth-regulating action.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
