Плазма обладает анизотропными свойствами по отношению к магнитному полю. Наложение магнитного поля вносит с ущественные особенности в развитие пробоя на всех его стадиях, что позволяет вы явить физические процессы, характерные для них. Особый интерес представляют исследования влияния внешних магнитных полей на характеристики разряда высокого давления: время формирования разряда, резкого спада напряжения и горения квазистационарной дуги; силу тока и напряжение пробоя; мощность и энергию, выделяемые в разряде; электронную температуру и концен трацию частиц в различные моменты времени. Данные исследования объясняются плазменной моделью пробоя га зов, которая связывает разряд с формированием в диэлектрике плазменной структуры, определяющей все последующие стадии развития разряда. В результате проведённой работы сделаны следующие выводы: продольное магнитное поле приводит к росту температуры, плотности плазмы и тока канала, а также удельного энерговклада в разряд. Проводимость плазмы сначала увеличивается с ростом магнитного поля, а затем практически не меняется, скорость расширения канала определяется скоростью ввода энергии в этот канал. Увеличивая скорость ввода энергии, можно увеличить удельную мощность, проводимость и температуру плазмы. Спектральный состав излучения и интенсивность континуума завис ят от напряжённости магнитного поля. С ростом напряжённости магнитного поля максимум непрерывного излучения смещается в коротковолновую область. Определены температура плазмы в расширяющемся искровом канале в Ar (40 000 К) и концентрация з аряженных частиц (~10 18 см-3).
