The AN/APG65 TPSs (27 TPSs, grouped in 4 OTPSs) are currently running on CASS RF + HPDT. The re-host of these TPSs for SAMe includes a substantial extension of SAMe capabilities, in the areas of RF, High Power and Cooling. Talking just about the RF extension, there were some key decisions during the design phase of the AN/APG65 project. First, a synthetic instrument set was considered more appropriate than a classical set of RF instrumentation. A second key decision was the vendor to provide the synthetic instrumentation set, as two nice options existed in the market by that time. This paper gives some details about the decisions taken during the design process and an overview of the experience up to now with the brand new synthetic instrumentation, when the integration of the TPSs is ongoing.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
