TRPV1 is a modulator of noxious stimuli known to be important in the cough reflex. We have compared the expression of TRPV1 in normal human airways and those from patients with chronic cough and found that there is up regulation in airways smooth muscle in disease. This increased expression appears to be intracellular and we have therefore examined the role of intracellular rat and human TRPV1 activity was found using intracellular calcium signalling with human intracellular TRPV1 being located in a thapsigargin insensitive compartment. Increase in TRPV1 activity may have a role in the airway hypersensitivity seen in chronic cough.
Aim-To describe the clinical, histological and immunohistochemical features in four cases of an uncommon benign lymph node lesion which may mimiic a neoplastic process.
Metastatic clear cell carcinomas are relatively common from primary tumors arising in the kidney, female genital tract, adrenal cortex, and lung, but they rarely occur from primary tumors of the pancreas. We report a case of metastatic pancreatic tumor with marked clear cell changes in a 46-year-old white man presenting with a pseudocyst of the pancreas. At laparotomy, there was a hard area in the head of the pancreas and another hard nodule was present in the omentum. The histologic and immunohistochemical test of the excised omental nodule exhibited features consistent with clear cell carcinoma from pancreatic primary. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a metastatic clear cell pancreatic tumor with such an unusual presentation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
