Using axially-symmetric and triaxial superdeformed models 7r[600 1/21 band in 165 Lu is investigated. The observed ytransition energies can be reproduced quite well in both models. However, the triaxiality factor F(I) and the ratio o f dynamical quadrupole moment Q(l) to Q(') in axially-symmetric superdeformed model are essentially different from those in triaxial superdeformed model, which may be used to determine the nuclear shape. Precise measurement o f the electromagnetic transition probabilities, combined with the information from the energy levels is necessary. Experimental information which may differentiate triaxial superdeformation from axially-symmetric superdeformation is discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
