In connection with the discussion of the individual symbiotic stars, we present low resolution, flux calibrated spectra and high resolution H α profiles for each of 12 objects.
We report observations at opposite quadratures of the interacting symbiotic binary EG And (HD 4174, Period = 470 d ). After correcting for absolute motion at the system, it appears, surprisingly, that many of the nebular lines arise from material that moves with the red giant star. This fact is used to interpret the observed complex line profiles of C iv and He II in the object.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
