Belief is an individual construction result based on learning experiences. This study aimed to describe students’ calculus learning beliefs and its relations with an understanding of solving limit of functions problems. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this research were two Mathematics education students of Syiah Kuala University. The data collected by giving calculus learning belief questionnaire, the limit of functions understanding test, and interview guidelines. The data were analyzed by displaying data, analyzing, interpreting, and concluding. The result showed that both students who had high-beliefs in calculus learning were able to solve the limit of functions problems by using concepts, principles, and procedures.
Education aims to foster a variety of potential which exists in human, including the potential to solve any problems, involving solving mathematical problems. This study aimed to describe students’ problem-solving skills during mathematics learning about social arithmetic through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The subjects of this research were 32 Year 7 students in Banda Aceh. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted by problem-solving skills test and interview. The interview data were analysed descriptively, while the data of the test results were analysed based on the assessment guideline of students’ problem-solving skills. It was found that students’ mathematical problem-solving skills through PBL model were already classified as good. High-achieving students of problem-solving skills solved the problem by understanding the problem, planning the solution, doing the solution and rechecking it. Middle-achieving students of problem-solving skills solved the problem by understanding the problem, planning the solution and doing the solution without rechecking it so they get incorrect results. Low-achieving students of problem-solving skills solved the problem by understanding the problem and planning the solution, yet they presented the incorrect solution and did not recheck it. PBL model can be used to improve students’ problem-solving abilities.
Spatial Analysis of Critical Land Status and Land Use Directives in Kluet Timur District of Aceh Selatan RegencyAbstract. Critical land is the condition of land that has undergone a decrease in function or cannot be effectively utilized for agricultural cultivation land, as a medium of water management, as well as a protector of environmental nature. Land use directive is a study of land potential for the allocation of an activity in a particular area based on its main function. The purpose of this study is to find out the critical land status and land use directives in East Kluet District of South Aceh Regency. This research uses survey methods and data analysis using descriptive analysis while data processing attributes with spatial analysis techniques using overlay intersect. Attribute data overlayed in the form of land cover maps, slope slope maps, erosion hazard level maps, productivity maps, and management maps that have previously each been filled with scores and weights. The results of this study showed that the level of criticality of land for the largest protected area reached 12,358.85ha (60.21%) of the total protected area in East Kluet District which belonged to the rather critical criteria. The level of land criticality for the largest agricultural cultivation area reached 3,915.22 ha (56.04%) classified into the very critical criteria. While the level of critical land for protected areas outside the largest forest area reached 14,276.88 ha (82.10%) classified into the non-critical criteria. Land use directives are classified as very critical in protected areas in East Kluet Subdistrict using the application of agroforestry, conservation, rehabilitation and reforestation.
