Os conceitos de parataxe e dupla consciência, o primeiro originário da lingüística, o segundo do pensamento negro norte-americano do século XIX, podem, apesar de gêneses tão diversas, tornar-se instrumentos integrados de crítica cultural e textual, estabelecendo uma ponte sobre o hiato que se formou entre os estudos lingüísticos e literários nas últimas décadas. A pesquisa “Parataxe e memória”, desenvolvida por Myriam Ávila, é uma tentativa nesse sentido.
O artigo propõe uma aproximação entre o sertanejo descrito porEuclides da Cunha em Os sertões e aquele representado pelo viajanteinglês James Wells em Três mil milhas através do Brasil. Partindo dapremissa de que Euclides conhecia a obra do engenheiro inglês, publicadaem 1876, apresenta-se a imagem euclideana do sertanejo como uma“resposta” ao texto de Wells.

E ainda, para conhecer e apreciar melhor os simbolistas brasileiros, lidos, inclusive, através dos prismas de Agamben e Castoriadis. Ao longo do livro, você se verá diante de uma outra arte, a pintura, capaz também de aguçar nossos sentidos para o poé-tico. A autobiografi a tem atraído cada vez mais a atenção dos estudiosos em diversas áreas. Antes ocupando um lugar modesto e marginal no conjunto da obra de escritores, fi lósofos, artistas e cientistas, passou, nas últimas décadas, a texto-chave para a avaliação dessa mesma obra ou documento inestimável de uma época e de um Zeitgeist. Para a literatura, o gênero autobiográfi co levanta instigantes questões sobre as negociações entre fi cção e realidade, identidade narrador-autor e em torno do pacto que busca estabelecer com o leitor. Carla Milani Damião, com seu livro Sobre o declínio da "sinceridade". Filosofi a e autobiografi a de Jean-Jacques Rousseau a Walter Benjamin, discute um aspecto complexo da escrita autobiográfi ca que a crítica literária tem tratado com certa rapidez: o do compromisso com a verdade.
