Introdução: Pacientes com diabetes mellitus apresentam certo comprometimento no processo de cicatrização, assim como a neoformação óssea. Objetivo: Analisar por meio de uma revisão sistemática da literatura a viabilidade da reabilitação oral por meio de implantes dentários em pacientes diagnosticados com Diabetes Mellitus. Material e método: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática de literatura com análise de artigos no banco de dados disponíveis no Google Acadêmico, Lilacs e PubMed. Utilizaram-se os descritores “Osseointegração”, “Implantes Dentários” e “Diabetes Mellitus”. Foram selecionados textos em qualquer idioma e a sequência de acordo com a relevância. Os critérios de inclusão usados foram artigos e livros publicados entre os anos de 2016-2021, relacionados ao tema. Foram excluídos os trabalhos que não se enquadrassem à metodologia empregada. Resultados: Não há um consenso quanto ao mecanismo biológico envolvido na diabetes e suas implicações à nível ósseo quando se trata de implantes dentários e osseointegração. Sugere-sea realização de maiores pesquisas nessa temática, com um planejamento amostral adequado, para retratar mais fielmente a condição da população com esse perfil. Conclusão: dos 15 artigos selecionados dentre os 318 apresentados inicialmente, 11 trabalhos estabeleceram que o diabetes mellitus não se configura como uma contra indicação absoluta para instalação de implantes dentários, desde que o paciente esteja com seus níveis glicêmicos controlados.
A COVID-19 é causada por um novo vírus (SARS-CoV-2) que ocasiona infecções respiratórias de fácil transmissão. A ANVISA em conjunto com o CRO decidiu que procedimentos de urgência e emergência são os procedimentos que poderão ser realizados durante o período de pandemia. A perda dentária é considerada um dos principais agravos de saúde bucal, a opção de não ter o atendimento odontológico durante o período de isolamento pode até diminuir o número de casos de indivíduos infectados, mas consequentemente aumentará o sofrimento dos indivíduos que precisam desses atendimentos. Objetivo: Estimar o impacto da pandemia COVID-19 nos procedimentos odontológicos de exodontias de dentes permanentes realizados no Brasil. Materiais e Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, manipulando dados do sistema de informações ambulatoriais do SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde) sobre os procedimentos de exodontias (exodontia de dente decíduo, exodontia de dente permanente, exodontia múltipla com alveoloplastia por sextante, exodontia de dente supranumerário), sendo também temporal. Resultados: Considerando os dados do estudo, levantados no período de 12 meses antes da pandemia e 12 meses depois do início da pandemia, observou-se uma queda de 67,43% (4.062.506) no número de procedimentos de exodontias realizadas pelo SUS no Brasil, tendo sido observada uma maior diminuição desses procedimentos entre os meses de abril a junho de 2020, registrando uma queda de 91,76% (2.112.565) no número de atendimentos durantes esses três meses. Considerações Finais: Estimasse que haja uma demanda reprimida de exodontias a ser executadas, e que provavelmente com o avanço da vacinação no país, esses pacientes busquem o serviço público para a execução de exodontias.

O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender, por meio de evidências científicas, os tipos de reabsorções radiculares advindas do reimplante do elemento dental avulsionado, além de analisar os fatores que contribuem para o seu desenvolvimento. Foram realizadas consultas nas bases de dados PubMed e LILACS, utilizando as palavras-chave: “Root resorption”, “Toothreimplantation”, “Incidence” e“Avulsion”,com o auxílio do operador booleano “AND”. Foram incluídos na pesquisa artigos publicados na base de dados nos últimos cinco anos m inglês. A busca resultou em 461 artigos, restando 94 após a seleção de artigos publicados de 2016 a 2021. A seleção dos artigos foi guiada pela leitura dos títulos e doresumos, sendo selecionados 22 artigos para leitura na íntegra. Por fim, 8 artigos foram incluídos nesta revisão integrativa, correspondendo aos critérios de elegibilidade. Apesar da falta de padronização dos estudos, foi visto que a RR relacionada ao reimplante de dentes avulsionados apresentou maior incidência para RR externa. Quanto aos tipos de RR externa, os artigos apresentaram maior incidência por RR por substituição, assim como sua relação nos casos dos dentes perdidos/extraídos. Contudo, nem todos os estudos classificaram os fatores relacionados à RR, dificultando uma análise de subgrupo para determinar a maior relação de causa e perda dos elementos dentários. Logo, é preciso que novos estudos de análises clínicas sejam realizados de forma padronizada, para que assim seja feita uma análise mais precisa da incidência, assim como das razões pelas quais os elementos dentais desenvolveram e foram perdidos/extraídos por RR.
O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar, por meio de uma revisão integrativa, protocolos clínicos de aplicação da Dexametasona a terapia endodôntica relatados pela literatura científica. Para compor essa revisão, foram incluídos artigos nacionais e internacionais. Foram empregadas consultas aos principais bancos de periódicos disponíveis online: PubMed, Lilacs e SciELO, para tal foram utilizadas as seguintes palavras-chaves/termos livres: “Dexametasona”, “Endodontia” e “Pré-operatório”, com o auxílio do operador booleano “AND”. Dos 70 artigos selecionados, apenas 11 fizeram parte do presente estudo, os critérios de inclusão foi artigo em inglês, português e espanhol e ensaios clínicos publicados nos últimos 10 anos, já os critérios de exclusão foram os artigos que não preencheram as informações no título, no resumo, artigos com anos não compreendidos entre 2011 e 2021 e qualquer outro artigo que não fosse um ensaio clínico. Os resultados mostraram que 10 estudos apresentados na presente revisão mostraram em seus resultados uma eficácia significativa do dexametasona quando aplicado à terapia endodôntica. Assim, conclui-se que a sintomatologia dolorosa sentida pelos pacientes após a terapia endodôntica pode ser aliviada com dexametasona por até 24 horas, que é o período na qual a maioria dos pacientes relatam sentir dor.
