The mayfly fauna of Turkey was reviewed including all hitherto known distribution records together with references and a few new records. Additionally, comments on taxonomy, identification and nomenclature are provided. Two species are new for the Turkish fauna: Ephemera
romantzovi Kluge, 1988 and Thraulus
thraker Jacob, 1988. A list of taxa including their recorded distribution in Turkey (according to provinces) is provided in the annotated catalogue. The type locality is also given for each species originally described from Turkey. According to the literature and the new records, 157 mayfly taxa representing 33 genera and 14 families were described from Turkey. Among them, 24 species are considered endemic to Anatolia.
A review of the Enochrus species recorded from Turkey is provided. Twelve species of the genus recorded by previous authors are summarized, Enochrus halophilus (Bedel) and Enochrus politus (Kuster) are recorded for the first time to the Turkish fauna and additional some records are provided from the country. Diagnostic characters of some species as well as the photographs of their aedeagophores are provided. Several species known previously from only a few localities in Turkey have been shown to have much wider distributions in the country
The superfamily Hydrophiloidea of Turkey is catalogued. A total of 23 genera and 161 valid species and subspecies are recorded of which six species (3.7%) are recorded as endemic. Forty-eight species and two subspecies are from the family Helophoridae, three species are from the family Georissidae, seven species are from the family Hydrochidae, two species are from the family Spercheidae and 95 species and four subspecies are from the family Hydrophilidae. Distributions of these species within Turkey are given according to the 81 administrative divisions of the country. The catalogue is based on examination of the primary literature and also includes some records from specimens examined in collections. Taxa are arranged hierarchically under the categories of family, subfamily, tribe, subtribe (where recognized), genus, subgenus (where recognized), species and subspecies (where recognized).
Aquatic Coleoptera fauna of the Ramsar site Sultan Sazl??? (Kayseri, Turkey)
was investigated between May and October 2009. A total of 87 species were
determined. Their distributions in Turkey are presented. Worldwide
distributions of four newly-recorded species (Agabus lineatus Gebler, 1848,
Helophorus pumilio Erichson, 1837, Helophorus redtenbacheri Kuwert, 1885 and
Cercyon tristis (Illiger, 1801)) from Turkey are also given. It was
established that Turkey is the southernmost limit of distribution of all the
newly recorded species from Turkey.
