This paper aims at discussing Information and communication technology (ICT) as a practical tool in achieving vision 20:2020. ICT is the world fastest growing economic activity in Nigeria. The sector has turned the world into an increasing interconnected network of individuals, firms, schools and governments, communicating and interacting with each other through a variety of channels and providing economic opportunities transcending borders, languages and cultures. ICT has opened a new channels for service delivery in areas such as e-government, e-learning, e-health, information dissemination etc. It plays a vital role in the manufacturing industries, competence, competitiveness and process jobs the world over. It is considered to be key for advanced manufacturing strategy. The paper goes further to discuss literature review, the role play by ICT in Nigerian economy and challenges faced. Finally, it ended with conclusion and recommendations on the best way to tackle problems especially implementation of good policy in ICT concerning various sectors of the economy.
