This research centered on enhancing Islamic Da’wah and Islamic teachings through the usage of social media. The purpose of this research was to examine how Muslims make use of social media to enhance Da’wah and Islamic knowledge among Muslims and non-Muslims, and the various Muslim scholars and groups on social media platforms who utilized the new technology to propagate the message of Islam. The paper adopted qualitative and analytical research methodologies in analyzing the issue in the research article, the paper also conducted an in-depth interview with two respondents at different intervals. Consequently, this paper explored the newest means of tapping the treasures of social media towards augmenting Da’wah activities and spreading the knowledge of Islam. The paper identified various individual Muslim scholars and groups that created pages/channels on Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, and other social media platforms to enhance Islamic da’wah and knowledge. Hence, the paper found out that social media is a workable and genuine tool for the propagation ideals of Islam.
<p>The paper has examines what is considered dual contributions of the internet based medium of communication in Da’wah. These platforms for social interaction and communication have become medium of spreading Islamic messages by Islamic scholars. The objective of the paper is to analyze how internet related mane of communications and interaction have aided Da’wah. The researchers adopted an explanatory type of research whose aim is to explain a phenomenon of choice. The researchers sourced data from the secondary sources and analyzed them. It is on the basis of such that, the findings of this research have portrayed that social media as medium of social interaction have been adopted as tools for Da’wah which learned Islamic scholars are using to propagate Islam and its teachings. However, the outcomes confirmed that social media have provided a fruitful ground for the germination of cyber space Islamic scholars, people who are not learned but share texts, video and audio containing distorted and misleading information. This has challenged the age long Islamic practice in Islam where any issues regarding Islamic Da’wah and Fatwa are exclusively for the learned Islamic Scholars. The study in addition reveal that what is obtainable on the social media now is, cyber scholars and quick to post or comment on issues that are exclusive the purview of Islamic scholars.</p>
This research centered on the use of social media platforms by Muslim students in proselytizing the religion of Islam in Tertiary Institutions of Learning in Northern Nigeria. The paper examines social media as a tool which has shaped a new social facet in the lives of Muslim students. Social media has advanced and raises their levels of religious, educational and social awareness. It is argued in the paper that, social media has provided an avenue for getting information in many aspects of everyday lives, making one to become more knowledgeable which is valuable especially for Muslim students to use for Islamic da'wah. The objective of the paper therefore, has examined the level of Muslim students' awareness of social media and using same in the proselytizing of Islamic faith to Muslims and non-Muslims in their various institutions of learning. A cross sectional survey was conducted among Muslim students in some selected tertiary institutions of learning in Northern Nigeria, and quantitative methodology was used. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. The paper found out that most of the Muslims students surveyed were aware of the social media sites that proselytize and extent the true teachings of Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims. Some of the social media sites utilized by Muslim students are: Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Ummaland, Signal, You Tube and Muslim Social.
Social media has become an integral component of Muslims' personal and public lives throughout the world. The paper looked at how selected Muslim scholars used social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube, and Zoom to conduct Da'wah in Northern Nigeria, using a sample of scholars from the three geopolitical zones of Northern Nigeria, namely the North-West, North-Central, and North-East. The goal of this study is to see how Muslim academics in Northern Nigeria use social media for Da'wah. Northern Nigeria was chosen for this study because it is a crucial location with a long history of Islamic growth. In-depth surveys of various pages/channels on social media platforms were surveyed, and this was supplemented with observation and depth interviews to get data. The researchers chose twenty-one scholars for the study and conducted a poll on their different social media pages/channels to determine their level of social media technology use for Da'wah. The study's findings indicated that the sampled Muslim scholars found it convenient to electronically offer their teachings and to upload video and audio of their Da'wah lectures on various social media platforms. According to the findings, Muslim scholars should continue to use social media platforms to assist present the image of Islam and Muslims. Makalah ini melihat bagaimana ulama Muslim terpilih menggunakan platform media sosial seperti Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube, dan Zoom untuk melakukan Dakwah di Nigeria Utara, menggunakan sampel ulama dari tiga zona geopolitik Nigeria Utara, yaitu Utara-Barat, Utara-Tengah, dan Timur Laut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat bagaimana akademisi Muslim di Nigeria Utara menggunakan media sosial untuk berdakwah. Nigeria Utara dipilih untuk penelitian ini karena merupakan lokasi penting dengan sejarah panjang pertumbuhan Islam. Survei mendalam dari berbagai halaman/channel di platform media sosial disurvei, dan ini dilengkapi dengan observasi dan wawancara mendalam untuk mendapatkan data. Para peneliti memilih dua puluh satu ulama untuk penelitian ini dan melakukan jajak pendapat di halaman/saluran media sosial mereka yang berbeda untuk menentukan tingkat penggunaan teknologi media sosial mereka untuk Dakwah. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para cendekiawan Muslim sampel merasa nyaman untuk menawarkan ajaran mereka secara elektronik dan mengunggah video dan audio ceramah Dakwah mereka di berbagai platform media sosial. Menurut temuan tersebut, cendekiawan Muslim harus terus menggunakan platform media sosial untuk membantu menghadirkan citra Islam dan Muslim.
