AbstractThis study aims to determine the characteristics of students' metacognition process at the level of informal deduction thinking in solving geometry problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. 66 elementary students were tested about their thinking ability of Van Hiele geometry by dividing them into some groups according to their geometry thinking level. The informal deductive thinking level group was tested for problem-solving geometry. Furthermore, interviews were conducted to explore the characteristics of their metacognition process. Based on the data analysis, the characteristics sequence of the metacognition process is complete through the process of planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The metacognition process indicator appears in each problem-solving component, from understanding the problem, preparing a problem-solving plan, implementing a problem-solving plan to check the solutions obtained.
The study aims to investigate the analysis of student metacognition skill in solving the rainbow connection problem under the implementation of the research-based learning model. The method used in this study is a mixed method. The research subjects were the 4th semester of students of higher education consisting of 30 students of experimental class and 45 students of the control class. The instruments of this research are a test, an observation, and an interview. Quantitative method is applied to analyze the difference of student achievement result among two classes, while the qualitative method is applied to analysis the students' metacognitive skills. The results show that there are significant differences between the two classes that applied research-based learning and conventional learning models. The conventional model refers to student-centered learning of Think-Pair-Shares (TPS) model. The statistical result indicates that the (2-tailed) significance of the independent sample t-test in the pre-test was 0.000 or α ≤ 0.05. It implies that the implementation of RBL significantly affects the students' metacognition skill in solving the rainbow connection problem.
This research is motivated by a phenomenon that occurs in female students who have several motives and reasons for their marriage, and the phenomenon of female students taking leave because they are pregnant. This study aims to determine the motives of young married students and student communication barriers after marriage. This study uses a descriptive case study type approach, audience research, namely qualitative research methods. Data is collected through interviews, books, references from libraries, journals, and the internet that discuss young marriage. The subjects of this study were students who married young at the Islamic University of Riau. Informants in the study amounted to five people, namely RPR, AS, YSA, FRB, and NK, based on initial observations using snowball sampling techniques and various information from students aged 21 years and under. At the Islamic University of Riau it self there are many students who decide to get married at a young age, but until now there has been no official data from the UIR for sure. In the view of Islamic law, the law is very different in setting the ideal age limit for a marriage bond. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out there are four motives of young married UIR students, namely: the development of Islamic religious studies, established prospective husbands who have worked and owned businesses, parents who support and encourage young marriage, and deep feelings of love between female students and their husband. The barriers to communication of informants after marriage is the frequent occurrence of misunderstandings, jealousy that is still strong, and selfishness that they have not been able to control because of their young age.
