The development of oil palm plantations in East Kalimantan can encourage the improvement of the regional economy and the people's economy. The interest of farmers to cultivate oil palm plantations is quite large, however, the production results are not in line with expectations. The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in productivity and income between independent smallholders, plasma, and large private companies. This research is a qualitative descriptive study referring to quantitative and comparative studies. It was conducted in 5 districts namely, Kutai Kartanegara, Kutai Timur, Penajam Paser Utara, Paser, and Berau in the largest oil palm plantation area in East Kalimantan. The results showed that (1) the productivity of oil palm plantations on large private- and plasma- plantations continued to increase until the age of more than 10 years, while in smallholder self-help plantations the highest productivity was at the age of 9 years, after that there was a decrease in productivity; and (2) the income of large private plantations and plasma plantations continues to increase until the age of the plant is > 10 years, while in smallholder plantations the highest income occurs at the age of 9 years.
The performance level of Field Agriculture Instructor (FAI) is the level of FAI success in carrying out their duties. The level of satisfaction is the difference between expectation and performance performed. The purposes of this study were to determine FAI performance level, farmer satisfaction level, and the relationship between the FAI performance level and farmer satisfaction in Loa Janan Ilir Subcity, Samarinda City. This research was conducted from May to July 2019. The research location was in Loa Janan Ilir Subcity, Samarinda City. The sampling method used is the simple random sampling method with total respondents of 42 farmers. Data analysis was done by the correlation test of Rank Spearman and t test. The results of this research showed that the FAI performance level in Loa Janan Ilir Subcity, Samarinda City was quite good with a score of 67.5. Farmers were satisfy to FAI performance in Loa Janan Ilir Subcity with total score 67.35. There is a strong relationship and significant between the FAI performance level and farmer satisfaction in Loa Janan Ilir District based on rscount = 0.63 and tcalculated > ttable (5.15 ˃ 1.68).
Corn plants are very well known by the people of Indonesia, even in some areas it is used as a staple food. One type of corn plants that people like is sweet corn. The aim of this study were to determine the income obtained by farmers in sweet corn farming. This research was conducted in Tani Aman Urban Village, Loa Janan Ilir Subcity, Samarinda City, with a total sample of 24 people. The data collected were primary and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the amount of sweet corn farming income was IDR293,438,733.33 cropping season (cs)-1 with an average of IDR12,226,613.89 cs-1 respondent-1. The value of R/C ratio of 2.1 indicates that sweet corn farming is profitable to cultivate.
This article is about how the impact of change and the extent of existing activities contribute to the surrounding community. The development of large private plantations in the East Kutai Regency has also been inseparable from problems, especially in the management of plasma plantations carried out by large plantation companies. Issues that arise include the difference in productivity between nucleus and plasma plantations, the low acceptance of plasma farmers so that it is considered not to improve the welfare of the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of large private plantations on community welfare, evaluating the implementation of plantation development activities in the East Kutai Regency. The sampling method is done by purposed sampling using data analysis methods, the analysis of the cost of the benefits of the area, the analysis of the level of welfare, and analysis of regional influence. With the results of the study as follows: the cost of benefits is positive; the multiplier value is 2,614 and the value of NTM is 0.37.
Farming activities must take into account the costs incurred for the production factors used. This needs to be considered by farmers in order to be able to use the inputs cost of production efficiently in managing their farming. The purposes of this study were to determine the effect of production costs in the form of planting area, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and laborers on revenue of wetland paddy farming and to find out the cost efficiency of wetland paddy farming in Bukit Raya Village, Tenggarong Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara District. This research was conducted from April to July 2018. Samples were taken by using the propotionate stratified random sampling method with a total sample of 41 respondents. The analysis technique used the production function of Stochastic Frontier SFA to determine the effect of production costs in the form of planting area, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and laborers on revenue of wetland paddy farming and to find out the cost efficiency of wetland paddy farming. The cost of production factors has a significant effect on revenue of wetland paddy farming. The cost of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides have no effect. Analysis of the cost efficiency of wetland paddy farming showed that farming did not efficient with an average efficiency level of 1.46 because farmers did not manage inputs cost efficiently.
