Alpinia monopleura is an endemic plant which widespread and abundant in Sulawesi. Nevertheless, previous studies have not studied the chemical compound and biological activity. This study describes the chemical compounds and antibacterial and antioxidant properties of the essential oils isolated from A. monopleura. The essential oil was obtained by the hydro distillation method and interpreted by GCMS. Antibacterial properties were determined by the agar diffusion method, while DPPH and ABTS determined antioxidant activity. The most important components are α-caryophyllene, β-pinene, limonene, α-pinene, β-caryophyllene and caryophyllene oxide. Essential oils of leaves and fruit showed excellent antibacterial properties with a MIC strength of 31.3 μg/mL against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25023 and Escherichia coli ATCC 35218. The highest antioxidant effect was also shown by inhibiting ABTS and DPPH radicals, with IC50 strength of essential oil obtained from the leaf being 15.60 and 19.42 μg/mL, respectively, while from the fruit were 10.44 and 11.93 μg/mL. These antibacterial and antioxidant properties indicate that essential oils have advantages in their use in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Karies gigi atau dikenal dengan gigi berlubang merupakan suatu penyakit pada jaringan keras gigi akibat bakteri S. mutans. Salah satu tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap S. mutans yang telah banyak diteliti adalah daun beluntas. Usaha untuk mengurangi eksploitasi alam adalah dengan mengisolasi jamur endofit pada bagian tanaman yang dapat memproduksi senyawa aktif. Jamur endofit merupakan jamur yang hidup pada sistem jaringan tanaman yang tidak menyebabkan gejala penyakit pada tanaman inangnya serta dapat menghasilkan senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti antibakteri, antivirus, antifungi dan sebagainya. Tujuan penelitian ialah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar daya hambat jamur endofit daun beluntas terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. mutans. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Paper disk. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 2 isolat jamur endofit daun beluntas yaitu jamur endofit putih dan jamur endofit hitam. Jamur endofit putih menghasilkan zona hambat terhadap bakteri S. mutans rata-rata 10% = 1,15 mm, 20% = 1,51 mm, 30% = 2,55 mm, kontol positif sebesar 1,28 mm dan kontrol negatif tidak memberikan zona hambat. Sedangkan jamur endofit hitam daun beluntas tidak memberikan zona hambat.
The high use of inappropriate antibiotics in the community is due to a lack of knowledge about antibiotics, thereby increasing the problem of antibiotic resistance. These problems can be overcome through community empowerment with Gema Cermat education through booklet media using the CBIA method. The Smart Society Using Drugs (Gema Cermat) is one of the educational efforts to increase public awareness, concern and understanding about how to use drugs properly and correctly. The purpose of the activity is to increase knowledge about the use of antibiotics using booklet media in the Punggolaka village, Puuwatu district, Kendari City. The method of activity is through Gema Cermat education with the CBIA method, pre and posttest questionnaires, booklets, pocket books, and power point presented by the pharmacist. The results show that an increase in knowledge in the good category of 100%. This is shown in the knowledge of the community at the pretest of 10.25% and increased by 100% after the posttest. Based on the results of the activity, it was concluded that Gema Cermat activities could increase public knowledge
ABSTRAK Daun trembesi (Albizia saman (Jacq.) Merr) adalah salah satu tanaman berkhasiat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dimana kandungan kimianya berpotensi menurunkan kadar glukosa darah antara lain flavonoid yang bekerja dengan cara menstimulasi sel- sel beta dari pulau langerhans, sehingga sekresi insulin ditingkatkan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antidiabetes ekstrak daun trembesi (Albizia saman (Jacq.) Merr) pada mencit (Mus musculus). Metode Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Eksperimen dimana sebanyak 20 ekor mencit dibuat diabetes dengan menggunakan Streptozotosin 150 mg/kgBB secara Intraperitonial. Kemudian dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu: Ekstrak dosis 25 mg/kgBB, 50 mg/kgBB, 100 mg/kgBB, sebagai kontrol positif Glibenclamid 5 mg dan kontrol negatif suspensi Na.CMC 0,5%. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji ANOVA. Hasil analisa statistik menunjukan pada konsentrasi ekstrak 100 mg/kgBB memberikan efek yang optimum dengan perlakuan kontrol positif Glibenklamid. Kata Kunci : Ekstrak Daun Trembesi, Antidiabetik. ABSTRACT Trembesi leaf (Albizia saman (Jacq.) Merr) is one of the efficacious plants to reduce blood glucose levels where the chemical content has the potential to reduce blood glucose levels, among others, flavonoids that work by stimulating beta cells of the island langerhans, so that insulin secretion is increased. It aims to determine the antidiabetic effect of trembesi leaf extract (Albizia saman (Jacq.) Merr) in mice (Mus musculus). This research method is an experimental study in which as many as 20 mice were made diabetic using Streptozotosin 150 mg / kgBW intraperitonially. Then divided into 5 treatment groups, namely: Extract dose 25 mg / kg body weight, 50 mg / kg body weight, 100 mg / kg body weight, as positive control Glibenclamid 5 mg and negative control suspension Na.CMC 0.5%. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA test. The results of statistical analysis showed that the extract concentration of 100 mg / kgBB gave the optimum effect with the positive control of Glibenclamide.
