BACKGROUND: Atrial fibrillation (AF) could be triggered by inflammation and oxidative stress. Ganoderma lucidum has an active substance in the form of β-glucan that can reduce inflammatory process and oxidative stress in rats. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide peptide (GLPP) in paroxysmal AF subjects with parameters of anti-inflammatory antioxidant, electrocardiography and health-related quality of life (HRQoL).METHODS: A randomized closed-label clinical trial with pre- and post-test design was conducted. After AF subjects selection, the subjects were randomized, interviewed and veni-punctured to isolate blood plasma. AF Subjects were then treated with placebo or GLPP for 90 days. Post-test blood plasma was collected on the following day after the 90th day. Then anti-inflammatory and antioxidant parameters were measured. After that, echocardiographic and HRQoL assessments were performed.RESULTS: A total of 38 subjects, 11 males and 27 females, completed the study with no significant changes in diets, physical activities, or medications. Comparing to control, the 90-days GLPP-treated subject characteristics were significant difference in systolic blood pressure, heart rate, malondialdehyde, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor-a, interleukin (IL)-1b, IL-6, primary (P)-wave dispersion, P-max, physical functioning, limitation to physical health, energy/fatigue, pain, and physical limitation.CONCLUSION: GLPP has several potential effects in AF subjects, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and atrial remodelling, so that HRQoL of AF subjects could be improved. Hence, GLPP could suggested as a potential supplementing agent for AF management.KEYWORDS: atrial fibrillation, Ganoderma lucidum, inflammation, antioxidant, atrial remodelling, quality of life
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) patients with a history of hypertension and underlying comorbidities are at high risk of developing major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and increase the mortality of the patients. Objective: This study aims to determine the association of hypertension and MACE in CAD patients admitted to ICCU.Method: This research is an analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The data used is secondary data from the records of patients who were admitted to ICCU at Sanglah Hospital on 1 January 2021-31 December 2021 with total sampling technique.Result: There were 376 patients included in this study. The majority of patients were male (n=291,77.4%) with the median overall patient age of 58 years old. Most of MACE found in the patients were revascularization (n=113;30.1%). The prevalence of hypertension was 19.1%. There were signifi cant differences in length of in hemoglobin (p=0.006), lymphocytes count (p=0.002), uric acid (p=0.032) and GFR (p=0.000) in the patients classifi ed based on MACE. MACE was signifi cantly associated with hypertension (PR=1.285;95%CI=1.102-1.498;p=0.006). Chisquare analysis showed that stroke (PR=2.386;95%CI=1.271-4.480;p=0.007), heart failure (PR=2.533;95%CI=1.574-4.078;p=0.000), and malignant arrhythmia (PR=1.820;95%CI=1.229-2.694;p=0.004) were signifi cantly associated with hypertension. Association of hypertension and kidney disease were signifi cantly associated with stroke (PR= 2.386;p=0.007), malignant arrhythmia (PR=1.820;95%CI=1.229-2.694;p=0.004) and heart failure (PR=2.533;95%CI=1.574-4.078;p=0.000). Association of hypertension and COVID-19 were also signifi cantly associated with malignant arrhythmia (PR= 2.253;p=0.011). Conclusion:There were signifi cant association between hypertension with MACE in the patients. Intervention on these factors can prevent further mortality.
At the moment, there has been minimal research on consumer preferences for purchasing processed fish products, with this study aiming to discover how consumer behavior affects the purchasing decision towards processed fish products. The purpose of this study is to examine processed fish products that are popular among Jakarta Indonesia consumers, as well as the factors that influence their purchasing decisions at Bendungan Hilir Market in Central Jakarta. the study used the method of descriptive analysis by observing Packaging color, type of packaging, product color, taste, and price. Validity and reliability tests were performed on the questionnaire. The characteristics of respondents and consumer behavior were analyzed descriptively, while the preferences of processed fish products, such as fish balls, jambal salted fish, shredded fish, fish nuggets, fish cake, and attributes in processed fish products that consumers will consider when purchasing processed fish products, were analyzed using Chi-Square. According to the findings, the processed fish product that became the consumer's favorite at the Bendungan Hilir Market was fish cake. Many of the factors that influenced the purchasing decision included the color of the white packaging, the color of the natural product, and the type of plastic packaging, but the most important factor in selecting products for fish balls, jambal salted fish, shredded fish, fish nuggets, and fish cake was the original taste. Fish balls and fish cake are priced between Rp. 15,000 and Rp. 20,000, while jambal salted fish, shredded fish, and fish nuggets are priced above Rp. 20,000.
