Nowadays, machines play a critical role as those machines are broadly utilized in various subjects. The contribution of machines is swiftly growing day by day as they are starting to replace hu-mans in everyday tasks. The machine is also used for the food and beverage industry to deliver the products easily and conven-iently to customers. This paper focuses on the design and fabrica-tion of the customized Ais Kacang vending machine for canteen, cafeteria and restaurant usage. There were five designs made and one best conceptual design was selected by using a ranking method. In addition, this paper explains the stress and strain analyses of the internal frame of the vending machine. The Ais Kacang vending machine has been undergone two tests, the ge-ometrical and final product tests. The selected machine was able to produce a plate of Ais Kacang in 66 seconds using auto mode. However, the time needed to produce a plate of Ais Kacang in manual mode depended on the user.
Most of Malaysia’s activities in Electrical & Electronic (E&E) Industry more focused in manufacturing industry. The E&E Industry is one of Malaysia’s leading industries that has 24.5 percent in manufacturing sector production. With a rapid expansion of E&E Industry with a continuous innovation, there is no methodological that show the optimization procedure for a process that concern on E&E product in production area. The aim of this work is to develop the optimization parameter for a process of E&E product based on Mahalanobis-Taguchi System (MTS). In methodology, the optimization parameter will develop by using four stages which are construction Mahalanobis Space (MS), validation of Mahalanobis Space (MS), identify the useful characteristic, and predict and future diagnosis. The production in the industry can reduce the rejected product in parameter in a process. Consequently, significant parameters can be identified for E&E product.
Shredded meat is more palatable to the taste of consumer and preparing shredded meat in a large scale requires the aid of meat shredder machine. This paper presents a detailed design procedure of a meat shredder machine developed by the VDI2221 approach. This paper also elaborates on the design of each part of the machine which includes selecting the components of the cutting and transmission system, kinematic arrangement of forces, material selection on the machine and proportion of parts to ensure the maximum strength and functionality of the machine. Further, the design of the various parts of the machine in 3D model and machine fabrication are discussed, along with the testing on the function and geometric aspects to ensure the efficiency of the machine. This study developed a meat shredder machine with 0.5 Hp electric motor and capacity of 2 kg per hour.
This study proposes a hybrid method to classify and estimate the location of short circuit disturbance on power transmission lines. The hybrid method uses Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The transmission system is implemented in a real system, in which the electric power transmission system on the KP bus to the GS bus is with a length of 64 Km. The DWT is used to process information from each phase voltage and current transient signal as well as the zero-sequence current for one cycle after the disturbance has started. The ANFIS classification is designed to detect disturbance on each phase and ground in determining the type of short circuit disturbance. ANFIS estimation is used to measure the location of disturbance that occur on the transmission line. The training and testing data are generated by simulating the types of short circuit disturbance using software with variations in disturbance location and fault resistance. The result is that the disturbance classification is with 100% accuracy and the estimated disturbance location is with the lowest error of 0.0006% and the highest error is 0.03%.
Air conditioning is a process of excluding moisture and heat in interior space for better thermal comfort. It is also one of the largest energy consumers in a household. The air-conditioner uses a lot of energy to maintain desired room temperature. The world is getting old and technologies are getting more advanced every day, energy-efficient appliances are needed to preserve the world. This paper presents a design and testing of the PID control for temperature and humidity control using Arduino to get the optimum energy efficiency. The system was developing by implementing the DHT22 sensor. The objectives of this work are; to design experimental model of air conditioning system, and to optimize the system using PID control. The Arduino is used in this work to showcase the temperature and humidity reading. The experimental model has been successfully built for use with PC fan with 12V and 0.26A current rate. The real-life performance is quite satisfactory.
