The authors investigate shift and asymmetry of broadened hydrogen lines in plasmas. All contributing multipoles and interactions between states with different principal quantum numbers (quenching effect) have been included in the atom-perturber potential V(t). Numerical results are given for Lyalpha line in the impact limit. Especially, for T=5104K, the shift arising from quenching effect is eight times greater than that arising from quadrupole and monopole.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
