En las comedias cinematográficas españolas se reinscribe una versión estilizada de una figura propia de nuestra tradición dramática: la que proviene del tipo del gracioso o donaire, y que desde el Siglo de Oro transita la escena española desde el sainete al esperpento. Se trata tradicionalmente de un personaje masculino y popular en un rol secundario, cargado de sentido práctico, que eleva por contraposición las cualidades del noble protagonista y se encarga de puntuar la narración creando situaciones cómicas que generan una especial relación con el público. En este artículo analizamos la variación en femenino del tipo del gracioso que, argumentamos, encarnaron las actrices Gracita Morales y Lina Morgan en las comedias cinematográficas populares del tardofranquismo. Nuestro fin último es contribuir a dibujar algunas de las peculiaridades de los modos de representación del cine español a través de la tipología y filiación cultural de sus personajes y el estatuto teórico de sus actores.
