The genetic structure and evolutionary relationship of Dulong chicken with other native Chinese species remained unclear. In this study, the mitochondrial control region was analyzed in total of 343 samples comprising 59 from Dulong chicken and 284 from 8 other Chinese local breeds revealed 51 mutation sites that defined 42 haplotypes. The maximum genetic variation was observed between the Shimian caoke and Pengxian yellow chickens. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that these local chickens mainly scatter in two southwestern clades. Dulong chickens have close relationship with other native chicken. Finding of this study suggests a single matrilineal lineage of indigenous Dulong chickens.
In present study, the real biological pictures, vivid and straightforward, were provided of the larval head and skin of Helicoverpa assulta and H. armigera. These visual pictures can be as the necessary and useful supplement on certain characters of these two larvae. In addition, we tested and verified the morphological result by DNA barcode based on our preliminary studies. Furthermore, we also compared and discussed the advantages and disadvantages between morphological and molecular data.
China is one of the most abundant chicken resources in the world. The local chicken breeds in the "Chinese livestock and poultry genetic resources Chronicles" have reached 107. In this paper, the nonlinear growth models have been briefly summarized and recent advances studies using Bertalanffy and Logistic Growth Curve Fitting Model in Chicken have also been reviewed. The significance and problems existing in the study of Bertalanffy and Logistic Growth Curve Fitting Model in Chicken in terms of future chicken research and breeding work were also discussed.
Based on the mathematical description and biological parameters of three nonlinear growth models (Logistic, Gompertz, Bertalanffy), the recent advance of growth curve fitting analysis in goose have been reviewed briefly in this paper in order to provide some basic information for future goose research and breeding work.
Genome sequencing has become one of the most rapid and effective methods to study molecular breeding of animals and plants. Chickens and chicken products are the necessary production for people and play an important role in our lives. Chickens are the first species of birds to get the whole genome sequence. This paper reviewed the research situation of domestic chicken reference genome and whole genome sequencing, which revealed the selective genes of special traits of local chicken breeds. It is believed that with the development of science and technology, whole genome sequencing combined with data from other sources can continuously promote the progress of this discipline.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
