Corneal desiccation with riboflavin with 20% dextran can be avoided when removing the lid speculum during saturation with riboflavin. The use of hypotonic riboflavin solution increased corneal pachymetry, although the final TCP remained unchanged. To increase endothelial safety, new isooncotic solutions are needed.
Crosslinking-induced stromal changes resulted in an increase in densitometry, especially in the anterior stroma of the central (0.0 to 2.0 mm) zone. These changes correlated with an increase in retinal straylight but not with the postoperative CDVA values.
Both IOLs had comparable PCO and Nd:YAG rates 3 years postoperatively. The optimized barrier function of the continuous-optic-edge IOL and the material properties of the interrupted-optic-edge IOL seemingly outbalanced the effect on lens epithelial cell migration and proliferation beneath the optic.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
