Buscando tratar do tema da violência contra LGBTI em sua relação com o processo saúde-doença, esta publicação objetiva auxiliar gestores, profissionais e estudantes da área da saúde em um assunto muito pouco abordado nas formações profissionais, mas que está presente cotidianamente na realidade do trabalho em saúde.
Resumo: Este artigo propõe reflexões acerca do debate sobre a diversidade sexual e de gênero no Serviço Social articulando seus desafios e limitações no seio da categoria profissional perante o combate a violência homofóbica. O estudo faz uma análise teórica a partir de concepções de diversos autores e de pesquisadores, além de documentos do conjunto CFESS/CRESS como informativos e resoluções. O debate visa problematizar, além da atuação profissional do assistente social junto às demandas apresentadas cotidianamente pela população LGBT, as diversas contradições que esse assunto tem provocado para essa categoria, grande desafio para o Serviço Social na contemporaneidade.

Social Service and Homophobia: the construction of a challenging debateAbstract: This article reflects on the debate about sexual diversity and gender in social service articulating challenges and limitations at the heart of the professional category, in relation to fighting homophobic violence. The study conducts a theoretical analysis based on the conceptions of various authors and researchers, as well as documents from federal and regional councils of social service [CFESS/ CRESS] such as informative documents and resolutions. The debate problematizes the professional action of social workers, demands presented daily by the LGBT population and various contradictions that this issue has provoked for social workers, which has become a great challenge to contemporary social service.
